OWASSO — Portions of an apartment complex were evacuated Monday after police serving a search warrant for narcotics discovered a pipe bomb in the facility, Owasso Deputy Police Chief Scott Chambless said.
Residents from three buildings at The Greens apartments, near 86th Street North and 145th East Avenue, were evacuated about 3:45 p.m., Chambless said. The Tulsa Bomb Squad, which was dispatched to the scene, rendered the device safe and determined that it was a pipe bomb, he said.
One man, Dylan Hayes, 19, was arrested, Owasso Police Department shift supervisor Lem Mutii said. Hayes had no criminal history in Owasso, he said. Residents were allowed back into the apartments at about 5 p.m.
Seized inside the apartment where police searched was about a pound of marijuana, drug paraphrenalia and other controlled dangerous substances, Chambless said.
