Couple arrested after foster kids found in cold
OWASSO COMPLAINTS
Garold McMillian (left) and Sherry McMillian:
The couple and their biological children left the house locked while they went to a friend's home for dinner, police allege.

OWASSO — An Owasso couple were arrested early Sunday after allegedly leaving two foster children, a boy and a girl, locked out of their house for about five hours in cold and rain, police said.
Garold McMillian and his wife, Sherry, both 42, allegedly took their two biological children to a friend's house to eat dinner and watch movies but ordered their foster children, ages 14 and 15, to stay outdoors without access to food, water or shelter, an arrest report says.
The McMillians were booked into the Tulsa Jail on Sunday morning on two complaints of child abuse.
Bond for each is $100,000, jail records show.
The arrest report also notes that a habitual sex offender lives within 250 feet of the McMillians' home.
A neighbor of the McMillians called police after seeing the girl sitting motionless on the porch for about 45 minutes.
The neighbors offered her shelter in their house, but she declined.
Officers arrived just after 11 p.m. Saturday and made contact with the McMillians.
The couple said they had discipline problems with the children and did not trust them to be in the house by themselves, the report says.
Garold McMillian initially told officers that he saw nothing wrong with leaving the children outdoors, it says.
The two children and a biological daughter, 13, were removed from the home, fed at the Owasso Police Department and taken to the Laura Dester Children's Shelter, the report says.

I suggest the judge rule that Garold McMillian and his wife, Sherry, be left in similar circumstances. Let them personally see if there is anything wrong with that.
Thank you Owasso P.D.

You have got to be kidding? I know there is more to this story and I don't think it's good news.

This is terrible. Maybe they've been caught and arrested before one of the children became kidnapped, injured or killed.

Already abused somehow to be placed in the system, and now abused again.
.
Foster children, being beaten down because of circumstances that were not created by them. Thought foster homes were in place to protect children who need to be protected.
.
It's foster parents like this that give all foster parents a bad name.
.
Makes me sick.

If there's anything that will help with discipline problems, it's a heaping dose of child abuse. What a couple of geniuses.

I say lock these 2 jerks in a cold dungeon no food and let them slowly starve to death. I see nothing wrong with leaving them in a place like that. I think they are problems for society and what the heck were these two doing with foster children? Im glad they took the biological child too.

its all about the money. people that foster do it for the money, not for the kids. I knew a coiple in claremore that fostered 4 kids along with 2 of their own and was getting 2,500.00 a month for taking the kids. Maybe I outta do fostering, NOT..i dont like kids that well. I hope the kids get a good foster parents next time.

Look like to me these foster parents were in it for the money and not for the love and welfare of the two children.

This is like some surreal nightmare. Every department of public service and safety seems to have lost their marbles. I keep waiting for Rod Serling to pop up and give his dialogue “Picture an OHP, DHS, etc… worker whose life of corruption and ineptitude has crossed him over… into the Twilight Zone”. Then the screen fades to black and you see Nazi’s marching and over the loud speaker you hear ‘Join the fourth Reich and aid us in our ethic cleansing.”
Okay, maybe that isn’t so much of a nightmare.

They were clearly doing it for the money. After paying back the money to DHS they should be required to pay into a fund for the children they left in the yard and on the porch for hours.

The beginning of this story is very misleading with some info that is flat out wrong. It stated that the kids were left out in cold and rainy weather. Later it stated the police showed up at 11 pm Saturday. There was NO rain anywhere near Owasso during the time period in question Saturday evening. Also temperatures were in the 55-57 degree range. Unless the teens were left out in a tshirt and shorts, it wouldn't qualify as cold either. Perhaps the writer of this story should have checked the weather data from Saturday evening before making up false info and including it in the first line of the story. The false info makes the parents look even worse.

Look there is probably A LOT more to this, either for the parents side or the kids side, but the weather part is a little screwy.
The thing I was thinking when reading is, so what? I used to spend every evening after school outside 4 to 5 to 6 hours without drinking or eating PLAYING sports or hanging out with friends, etc. Look I'm not referencing this direct story because I'm sure there is more to it, but is it really a tragedy? What a weird society today

Locking foster children out of the only place they may feel safe, regardless of the weather is just wrong. They most certainly shouldn't be foster parents.

The money recieved to assist with foster care doesn't really cover the cost of that child. Most children in foster care have huge emotional issues that are a constant in their lives as well as the foster family that care for them. I am not sure why they were placed on the porch or for how long, but I do know that foster children are not to be left unattended. So far, that seems to be the only real issue until exact facts are made public.

Wait just a minute, that is our tax money paid to DHS for Foster Care, and they are not monitoring, and following up to foster parents? Something is wrong with this picture, and a active sexual pervert living nearby, Is the parole office also neglectful? People the State government is laying off people because of budget shortfalls, Now Why is that?Mostly they dont do anything of value for the tax payers.

They went to eat dinner and watch movies at a friends house...didn't trust the foster children alone in the house...why didn't they take the foster children with them to the friends house in the first place? I wonder what else they have done to these children?!?!
