The roads are wet as I write this response, and I'm sure the traffic report I listen to on my way to run errands will be filled with fender-benders. Why people can't seem to get it through their heads that you need to slow down on wet roads continues to boggle my mind.

For Timothy Eyres, it will take charges of vehicular manslaughter to drive home the point. I only hope that Peter Holland's death will result in other drivers learning that a speed "limit" means the fastest you should go under optimal conditions, not the slowest you should go on ice!

elusive, unless you were present at the time of the accident, how can you say he was careless. the weather was terrible, heavy rain, and the area of the incident is well known for accidents even on a clear dry day. mr eyers will suffer through the rest of his life because of this tragic accident. my condolences to both family

I dont think this "final act of kindness" will bring any comfort to his family. It is the reckless driving on wet roads by Timothy Eyres, that killed Mr Holland. I am sure Mr Holland meant well but it is very dangerous to be out on the side of a highway when the roads are wet.

Musicman, read the story. Mr. Eyers was driving at an unsafe speed. The weather was terrible, heavy rain and he was driving at an unsafe speed. That sums it up.

If my husband was killed helping someone in distress I would feel proud of him for being a good guy even though reckless driving by another individual took his life. I think I would find great comfort in my husband's act of kindness to another human being.

People drive TOO FAST when it's raining,snowing,dark etc.

Is it really worth getting somebody hurt or killed to knock 15 minutes off their driving time?

So sad he was killed just trying to help another in need. So many people these days could careless about helping anyone but themselves. My family just lost a loved one as well, and It's even harder right before the holidays. Prayers for the family

Here we have a story of a good samaritan being struck and killed by someone driving too fast on a wet road, and the last sentence in the article states, "Eyres was wearing a seat belt, the OHP said." Who gives a sh*t about that, the man committed negligent homicide. That little tidbit of information was completely redundant.

I happen to know Pete and he was a very nice guy would help anyone if he could. Also know the person who hit him by association and Im sure this terrible accident will be with him forever. From what I understand the car Pete got out to help had also gone off the road in same way so it is very sad for all of us.Two accidents and the one helping was the only one who died! Makes no sense no matter who you blame. Pete will be missed! He was a very big teddy bear!
