LAWTON, Okla. — Officials at Fort Sill have welcomed home 20 Texas-based soldiers who are returning from Iraq.

The members of the 2nd Platoon, 961st Quartermaster Company arrived at the southwestern Oklahoma fort Monday.

Senior Army National Guard adviser Col. Robert Roshell says officials only had a couple hours notice to prepare for the homecoming. Roshell says the ceremony was possible because members of the 77th Army Band came in on their day off and local veterans' troops turned out.

Were they rerouted because of the Ft. Hood investigation? I didn't think the Army did anything short notice. I mean everything is planned out weeks in advance. This is really weird.

Welcome home Soldiers. "the 77th Army Band came in on their day off and local veterans' troops turned out." Also, thanks to you Army band members.

No, Texas just annexed the southwest quadrant of Oklahoma. Since Perry decided to secede, he needed a fort to guard his portion of the panhandle.
