Jet man dies in Alfalfa County pickup accident

GOLTRY — A 42-year-old Jet man has died after his pickup left an Alfalfa County road and rolled into a creek.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Jack Steven Bennett died in the accident that happened on a dirt road northeast of Goltry about 4:50 p.m. Thursday. Bennett's 9-year-old son was able to crawl from the wreckage and was not injured.

Troopers say the pickup left the roadway for an unknown reason before hitting a bridge banister and rolling off the bridge. The pickup came to rest on its top in about six feet of water.

The boy, Cody Jack Bennett, went for help, but his father was pinned under water for about three hours and 45 minutes and died at the scene.

	Report Comment Team player, (7/3/2009 10:53:11 AM) i grew up in northwest ok...jet is a town north of goltry. that is a little confusing since they didn't mention jet in the story. makes it sound like he is from goltry.
