WASHINGTON — Only two of Oklahoma’s five U.S. House members got a passing grade from a conservative group scoring lawmakers on their efforts to eliminate earmarks.

Reps. Mary Fallin, R-Oklahoma City, and John Sullivan, R-Tulsa, have voted for the majority of amendments this year aimed at stripping so-called pork barrel projects from spending bills, according to Club for Growth. Fallin, however, didn’t vote for amendments that would have stripped Oklahoma projects.

Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Cheyenne, who backed only one of the efforts to strip earmarks, dismissed the report and said he had opposed the expenditure of hundreds of billions of dollars this year.

According to Club for Growth, which advocates for limited government, there have been 68 amendments offered this year by Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and two other Republican House members. None of the amendments was approved by the full House. Only 22 lawmakers voted for them all, while 211 House members — 202 Democrats and nine Republicans — voted against all of them.
