OKLAHOMA CITY — A Harrah woman has pleaded guilty to embezzling about $400,000 in life insurance funds intended for the son of a soldier who was killed in Iraq.

U.S. Attorney John Richter says 30-year-old Trisha Dawn Fish pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Oklahoma City. She faces up to five years in prison.

Authorities say Army Specialist Jeffrey Henthorn and Fish married had a child in 1998 and divorced in 2000.

Henthorn was killed in February 2005 and had designated his son as the sole beneficiary of his life insurance. Court papers show Fish went to Kickapoo Tribal Court in McLoud in March 2005 and sought to be appointed her son's guardian and fiduciary.

Prosecutors say Fish embezzled and spent approximately $400,000 in less than a year.

What would you bet this low life spent the $400,000 at a Casino?

What a mom! Should she win mother of the year award? Nottttt!

Mr. Henthorn should have had a will setting out that the executor/executrix be in charge of the monies that was for the child. Apparently he didn't, so the so-called tribal court allowed the mom to be in charge of the child's money. Not a good idea.

This is just why I don't think Michael Jackson's mom should be in charge of his financial estate. She got custody of the Michael Jackson's children per his Will and is being financially provided for generously per his will as well as his children.

I don't trust Mrs. Jackson, with some of her 9 children being hanger-ons, mooching off mama through Michael Jackson's money, she would probably run through MJ's money like sh_t through a goose. Leaving no money for MJ's children when they reach adulthood.

Just wanted to point out that the child was only 7 and most likely lived with her (being that she was the biological mother). She could have paid off their house, establishing financial security for his future, bought him 20000 pairs of air jordans, and funded a college savings plan. I'm just sayin' the article doesn't say that she wasted the money at a casino, and I'm willing to bet none of you know how she spent it either.

How do you spend $400,000 in a year? I'd like to try but my needs and wants aren't that extravagant. Who does that?

I am pretty sure she wouldn't have been charged with embezzlement if she paid off a house, established asecure future, or a college fund. Drugs or gambling has got to play into it somewhere.

I pretty sure she didn't either. That doesn't make it right for people to get on here and slander her when they don't know any facts.

It`s not Slander when she pleads guilty.

justiceawaits,
point taken, but to say that she blew it at the casino IS slander. She didn't plead guilty to blowing the money at a casino.

This woman is guilty and what she did was wrong, but a lot of what has been said here is just verbal vomit.

I wonder who has her son now or who will get custody of him. I also heard that her mother was quite ill (heart condition I think)and was living with her, had no insurance, and that Trisha was the only one working. We all know that medical bills can wipe out ones savings in no time.

Actually, This is very bad but I have seen people do worse. Like taking advantage of a tragic death to make a profit. Believe me, you live long enough you see things you never dreamed you'd see. I couldn't believe anyone could steal from the dead either.

Mr. Henthorn made his son soul beneficiary for a reason. If this woman needed the money that badly why did'nt she go about it in an honest manner?
