OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma company will assemble and sell all-electric, street-legal low-speed vehicles manufactured by an Atlanta-based company.

The agreement between AMP Control Inc. of Piedmont and Wheego Electric Cars is to be the focus of a news conference on Tuesday at the state Capitol.

Wheego CEO Mike McQuary says the tax credits approved by the Legislature during its most recent session makes Oklahoma an attractive marketplace in which to sell electric vehicles.

He says the Wheego Whip LSV qualifies for a state tax credit of 50 percent of the purchase price of the vehicle, which is $18,995, as well as a $7,500 federal tax credit.

The assembly plant will be in Piedmont in Canadian County, just northwest of Oklahoma City.

I wish them the best of luck. A quick image search reveals that you will need to purchase two, one for each foot. Now I am going to have the song "you can't rollerskate in buffalo herd" stuck in my head!

A low-speed vehicle? Sounds like a toy that few could use and fewer would buy.

Should be interesting to see how many are sold. FYI - the body and chassis are made in China, the batteries are from Canada, and the engine is made in Wisconsin.

CNG is just another fossil fuel that will eventually be gone. Renewable or Nuclear Electricity are the only options going forward.

A better option than Electric and CNG is Propane or LPG:

CNG & Electric conversion and OEM's are more expensive vehicles than LPG.
LPG has more range than CNG or Electric
LPG is safer than CNG
LPG has been used as a motor fuel since 1929, with 13 million vehicles utilizing the fuel worldwide.

Make that an Four Wheel Drive ATV, and with the TAX credits, every hunter, Rancher, would want one.

Hook it up to your solar panels or wind generator and you have very low fuel cost for a vehicle.
