Teen girls charged in Woodward Co. plot to kill foster parents
By Associated Press

WOODWARD— Two teenage girls have been charged in Woodward County with trying to kill their foster parents.
Prosecutors say 16-year-old Ashley Jewell and 15-year-old Kelsey Beames are both charged with felony counts of shooting with intent to kill and conspiracy to commit murder. Both are charged as youthful offenders and are being held in separate juvenile detention centers.
Officials in the district attorney's office did not know if the girls had attorneys.
Police say Jewell shot and wounded Robert Parker as he slept early last Friday morning while Beames was to shoot Barbra Parker — but the gun had the wrong ammunition and didn't fire.
Investigators say the family had recently moved to Woodward from Henryetta and the girls wanted to return there.

Smart move girls. On the tv news last night it stated that the girls wanted to be free from the foster parents and DHS system is why they plotted to kill their foster parents. Uhhhh....girls now you sure are not free, you just transferred from your foster parents and DHS to the criminal court system.
Just goes to show that teen's brains are not fully developed. Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil and researchers have found that young people's brains are not fully developed until at least 25 years of age.

Just because they wanted to go back to Henryetta?
Why not just run away?
Is there more to this then we see here?

They were going to kill them in their sleep. Why are they being charged as youthful offenders? They should never see the light of day.

Well, no good deed goes unpunished I guess.
Poor folks, glad they survived.

They premediated to kill their foster parents just because they didn't like having to move to a different town, and then they were only charged as youthful offenders? Granted, I don't know all the circumstances of these attempted murders, but it sure seems wrong that if they serve any time it will be in the juvenile facility and then be free to continue plotting violent crimes by the time they're 20. Thank God one was a poort aim and the other didn't know how and/or what to load her gun with, or we would likely be looking at their obituaries instead hoping both will be okay both emotionally and physicially. This is terribly troubling and makes one wonder where the world started to turned to this type of thing occurring every day somewhere in the country, and what seems to be pretty frequently in our own backyards.

DHS, child welfare let everybody down again, certainly was not much vetting done, with the kids and or Foster parents. Why do we continue to pay these folks with tax dollars,? seems like every time you turn around, DHS child welfare has screwed up.

They should be tried as adults just like they do young males this age. It certainly will make people think twice about being foster parents to teenagers.

well, it seems as though society has a couple more young maniacs on its hands.

Robert and Barbara Parker are truly salt of the earth. Their love for the hurting knows no bounds and it shows in the selfless way they live their lives and share all they can with those around them who are in need. When Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins on Calvary---a debt we ourselves could never pay---and rose from the dead, He furnished for us new lives and new hope in place of our death and darkness. This new life causes us to love and forgive others, just as Christ forgave us. This is the very same forgiving love the Parkers have shown their attackers. This is the love of Christ in action. Bro. and Sis. Parker, we love you, are praying for you, and are here for anything you need. Rev. Cherryl Lawson, The Cross C.O.G. Muskogee
