Oklahoma lawmaker plans hate crimes bill response
By Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY — A state lawmaker says he plans to file legislation to protect Oklahomans from encroachments on speech, assembly and religious beliefs.
Sen. Steve Russell of Oklahoma City says the measure is a response to concerns about new federal hate crimes legislation. President Barack Obama signed a bill last month to include violence against gays in federal hate crimes law.
Russell says he believe's the bill exceeds the government's power over the states as outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
He says he's also concerned the bill could be used to target people's beliefs, freedom to associate in groups and right to assemble as well as target people's right to free speech.
Russell's bill will be considered by the 2010 Legislature, which convenes in February.

You can look all this up, don't have to take my word for it. NAMBLA was busted for putting naked kids on their web site. The went to the supreme court with the arguement that naked drawings of kid must be allowed under their free speech provisions and IF YOU CAN BELIEVE THIS, the Supreme court with a 5 to 4 conservative majority, agreed with them. So they can't post child porn but they can draw pictures of naked kids.
Site the case Dusty. Well, someone ask him to seeing how he has me on ignore.

I doubt Dusty will site the case, but I imagine it is Curley v. NAMBLA. Instead of listening to blowhard Dusty, look the claim up for yourselves and see what it was a about and WHO DEFENDED NAMBLA. It never went to the Supremes and I couldn't find a case involving them that went up to the US Supreme Court. Take what Dusty says with a grain of salt. His rants are full of half truths, to state the obvious. He is just trying to slander the conservative right as usual.

To me it doesn't matter much what you call them. They need to be isolated from society for long periods of time. If justice won't allow lengthy incarceration, then administrative laws should be brought to bare. They should be implanted so their every move can be tracked. And their homes should be wired for live closed circuit viewing.

What a crock of turkey litter. Does this guy really believe we don't know the real truth behind this proposed legislation. It's nothing more than legal cover for rowdy and political caustic hooligan protests.

While I agree there are many good Christians, Cherylynn, I have to disagree that the Christians who actually live the way of Christianity outnumbers the liars, bigots, hypocrites, rapists, and molesters. Hypocrites most of them.
And what's up with the make-up so thick that you can't even see their faces? Add in hair piled up like Dolly Parton's wigs 20 years ago. They are freaky looking.

this is pointless grandstanding: the First Amendment guarantees all of this. Unless, of course, Senator Russell is actually proposing legislation that legalizes beating up homosexuals
Which wouldn't really surprise me, given our state legislature.

Opposing this isn't futile, it is just backward and ignorant.

nobody is indoctrinating anybody or anybody's kids - you have no proof because it isn't happening. people cannot be talked into being a homosexual, so any indoctrination would be fruitless.

but don't you see? homosexuals are all deviant pedophiles who yearn to prey upon the tender bottoms of our sons.
the only thing between our children's rear-ends and the insatiable homos is the inability of courts to consider intense hatred of an insular minority as a grounds for longer sentences in assault convictions

2nd joyce, as Dusty said, NAMBLA preys on school age children much like the homosexual priests that have come under a lot of scrutiny in the past 10 years.
Dusty, funny that almost everyone of your posts allude to "right wing Christians" always at fault for everything.
Your rhetoric is growing old. With few exceptions, most people could be construed as religious people.
What people do as humans doies not make the Word of God wrong. It is the people that are not perfect.

Problem being is they are in hiding in the churches, because they can hide out there and still do their dirty deeds with anonymity. How many kids have been abused by the so called church leaders? Not just catholic but several..even in Owasso here recently a youth pastor(?) was arrested for the such. One of a number of them that I have read on here and else where.

And think about this Dusty...an angel comes and translates these plates from somewhere, Joseph Smith only knows....King James is long gone and his language is too. But that is what the zealots are still speaking in here, in America because it is the only "RELIGIOUS LANGUAGE" acceptable!!!! Imagine why the angel translated them into KJ english.
