EUFAULA - A boil advisory remains in effect for Lake Eufaula State Park after E. coli was found in water samples, said Skylar McElhaney, Department of Environment Quality spokeswoman.

The drinking water is unsafe for human consumption after water samples indicated the presence of E. coli, she said Monday.

Water served from the Lake Eufaula State Park system should be vigorously boiled for at least one minute before drinking, use in food preparation, washing dishes or brushing teeth, McElhaney said. The DEQ will require testing of water samples before lifting the advisory.

The boil advisory affects Lake Eufaula State Park only, located in McIntosh County.
