ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The state Office of the Medical Investigator has identified an eighth victim among the remains found buried on Albuquerque's west side as a runaway from Oklahoma.

Albuquerque police spokeswoman Nadine Hamby said Friday Syllannia Edwards was 15-years-old when she was reported missing in Lawton, Okla., in August 2003.

Hamby says Edwards is the first of the identified victims to come from outside New Mexico.

Police unearthed the remains of 11 victims and a fetus in the mass grave in February.

The medical examiner's director of operations Amy Boule says employees compared a forensic sketch they made of the victim based on a skull with photos of missing children posted online.

Boule says they found Edwards' photograph and a positive identification was made through dental records.

It's just so unfortunate that for many life ends tragically and so unexpectedly. But still for more there is the specter of uncertainty and then the reality of what honestly must have been expected. But still nothing can prepare one for the day these parents and family must have known would be there answer.

My condolences to the family and friends of this saddened Oklahoma family. May GOD bless them all and help them find some measure of peace.

I don't remember this story. Did they catch whoever did this. Hope they can identify the others. I know the family is relieved.

This is truly sad, but at least allows closure for the family.

Tragic news for the family as I'm sure they had hoped one day she would be found alive. I can only imagine the grief they are experiencing now, prayers of comfort for them.
