The boy's mother is hospitalized with injuries suffered while protecting her son, police say.

NICHOLS HILLS — A physician in an affluent Oklahoma City suburb was arrested Monday on a murder complaint in connection with the death of his 9-year-old son, officials said.
Stephen P. Wolf, 51, is being held without bail in the Oklahoma County Jail, a spokeswoman said.
Police Chief Richard Mask said Wolf's son Tommy died Monday morning, shortly after officers responded to the family's home.
"I can't perceive it happening anywhere, anytime, but it does, and Nichols Hills is not that much different from any other community," Mask said. "I know that sounds strange, but people are people, and everyone has their problems."

If this had happened in North Tulsa, all those who usually comment here would have something to say...

Somebody always has something to say about "North Tulsa" I feel you...So Sad especially when a child is killed.

I have a hard time trying to figure out, what a parent is feeling inside when something like this happens. The crime is unthinkable and now, a prominent physician, his wife, and now their dead son, are torn apart for the rest of their lives. My heart goes out to the wife and mother, and may God have mercy on the father, and may this young boy find peace finally in his life by being in heaven.
For those who state that if this happened in North Tulsa there would be comments made. If this happened anywhere in Tulsa there would be comments made. This is not a racial issue, this is a family issue. Usually the comments made about North Tulsa, are as a result of "gang style" killings, or as the result of a drug induced killing.

What makes you so sure this wasn’t a “drug induced killing”? There are plenty of medical professionals who ‘self medicate’…
I guess you are saying that since they’re not poor or living in North Tulsa, it’s somehow less worthy of comment???

It doesn't matter to me where this happened. The fact is,a beautiful young child was murdered, and the Mother will have to suffer for the rest of her life, and will never get over this senseless tragedy. As for the father, if he did this, and it sound's like he did, then he should have to suffer for the rest of his life.

Very tragic, doesn't matter where it happened, only that it did.

there's always one that has to make EVERY story in the news about race........ why is that?

And now,for the rest of the story...
there is no such thing a s a "safe" or "good" neighborhood. Look at OJ-He lived in a multi-million dollar house among others, yet he murdered people, defrauded people and was and is a bum.
A doctor is a person first, then a doctor.Maybe he was self-medicated, or mentally ill or angry. Maybe he was trying to prevent his wife from leaving with the boy or maybe the boy tried to prevent the doctor from harming his mother.
Will we ever know the truth behind closed doors? Probably not, since affluent people hire better lawyers who are proficient in hiding the truth to get at "settlement" or "plea bargains."
The truth is, this boy died unnecessarily, and it is a tragedy for all of us. He might have discovered the cure to cancer or life on Jupiter, had he lived.
I am so sorry for the whole family and friends who are reeling from this event.

Get over yourself, jett rink. Did you not see the 50 or so comments on this story yesterday?
No reasonable person who understands the English language would think Sarge776 was saying "this doesn't deserve comment because it wasn't in North Tulsa." The fact that he put a comment on here at all shows that he thinks it is worth commenting on. That rather obvious fact is apparently lost on you. Quit being so over-defensive and looking to be offended where no one is trying to be offensive.
lottiedah is right, no neighborhood with human beings in it is truly safe. But the fact is, violent crime is less likely in some areas, and more likely in others. Crime doesn't happen uniformly across geographic regions of cities, and that's just a fact.

“there's always one that has to make EVERY story in the news about race”
Who’s saying it’s about “race”? For all I know, folks who stereotype North Tulsa in the TW comments may be doing it based on some kind of class prejudice against the poor instead of “race”.
It’s certainly true, as someone pointed out, that “affluent people hire better lawyers who are proficient in hiding the truth”. When something bad happens in North Tulsa, it gets put prominently on public display rather than being swept under the rug by high-priced lawyers…

The most recent story about this on NewsOK has a link to the arrest affidavit. It pretty much clears up any questions I had about Dr. Wolf's mental condition at the time of the murder. Very, very sad.
