Oklahoma House panel passes teacher performance pay measure

By BARBARA HOBEROCK World Capitol Bureau

OKLAHOMA CITY – A House panel on Monday passed a measure that would create a pilot teacher performance pay program.

House Bill 2836 would be contingent on the state's successful effort to obtain federal Race to the Top grant funds, said Rep. Earl Sears, R-Bartlesville, the author.

The measure passed the House Appropriations and Budget Education Subcommittee by a vote of 12-0.
