PAOLI, Ind. — Authorities have seized about 80 pit bulls during raids at two southern Indiana sites suspected of breeding and training dogs for illegal fighting.

State police say dog carcasses and dog fighting paraphernalia were also seized when the Indiana Gaming Commission and other agencies executed search warrants Tuesday in Orange County.

Adam Parascandola of the Humane Society of the United States says many dogs had scars and marks consistent with fighting.

Thirty-nine-year-old Brian E. Denny of French Lick was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of animals for the purpose of animal fighting contests and an outstanding warrant for battery. He was released on bond.

A phone number listed as Denny's was disconnected and he could not immediately be reached for comment.

I' sorry but all of these fighting dogs (pit bulls) need to be euthanized for the safety of others.

Losers, all of them and anyone who participates in this type of activity whether staging the fights or watching. How can anyone enjoy seeing an animal bleed to death and suffer such pain. It makes me think folks like this do not have a conscience. These poor dogs. I have a Pit of my own and she is by far the sweetest, loving, submissive, dog I've ever had. She is afraid of everything. I cringe at the thought of her ever having to be subjected to such cruelty.

It's a good thing the Indianapolis Colts didn't sign Michael Vick with this going on.

Already wanted for battery. Sounds like he liked to fight also.

Last month the Tulsa World published an article giving the toll-free national hot line to report animal fighting. The number is 877-847-4787. Anybody whose tip leads to a conviction of animal fighting (either cockfighting or dogfighting) can receive a $5000 reward.
