Lawmakers' pork votes assessed
A conservative group rates them on opposition to earmarked projects.

WASHINGTON — Only two of Oklahoma's five U.S. House members got a passing grade from a conservative group scoring lawmakers' efforts to eliminate earmarks.
Reps. Mary Fallin and John Sullivan, both Republicans, have voted for the majority of amendments this year aimed to strip so-called "pork barrel" projects from spending bills, according to the group, Club for Growth. Fallin, however, didn't vote for amendments that would have eliminated Oklahoma projects.
Rep. Frank Lucas, a Republican who backed only one of the efforts to strip out earmarks, dismissed the report and said he had opposed the expenditure of hundreds of billions of dollars this year.
Club for Growth, which advocates limited government, said 68 such amendments have been offered this year by Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and two other House Republicans. None of the amendments passed. Only 22 members voted for all of them, and 211 House members — 202 Democrats and nine Republicans — voted against all of them.

That's twice this summer that John Sullivan has shown strength and integrity. He keeps my vote.

Earmarks are the foundation stones of the current corruption in Washington, D.C. The practice should be stopped. Period.
Bully for Representative Flake and Senator Coburn for leading the lonely fight against these earmarks whereby House and Senate Members reward friends, relatives, and campaign contributors with billions of dollars worth of tax-payers' money.

Bill---"twice he has shown strength and integrity"
But he loses my vote for the hundreds of times he has not!

I agree okpaul. A showing of integrity twice in one year, is not a sign of greatness, nor is it a sign he should be returned to Washington for another term.

Sullivan is bought and paid for by the pharmaceutical lobby. He will do whatever it takes to stay elected.

Perhaps the Tulsa World should attach the photos of those who DID NOT pass the test to the article, rather than the ones who did. The headline and the photos don't match. (once again)

For a backwoods, hillbilly infested, uneducated and simple-minded bunch of Okies (according to the highly advanced and intelligent liberal ilk herein); we certainly have elected some outstanding people to represent us.

How is Fallin suddenly getting into the news so much. She is a looney tune that somehow keeps believing that the more crazy she sounds, the more she can get attention.
Please, her 15 minutes are up, let her go.

Using the words "strength and integrity" in any sentence, story, connotation, or description of Rep. John Sullivan has got to be one of the most profound misuses of the English language in this Century.
The man is a HACK. He's a hack for the Democrat Elite and the Republican Elite. He votes how he is told to vote. And, he is very prone to telling non-truths by the week.
Believe me, I have seen worse in Congress. But NOT MUCH worse.
It is time for Sullivan to retire.

HardHearted Hanna: Who do you think the D.O. will be endorsing for Governor? There is your answer. Where does this paper keep coming up with these shill groups? Come on now. Club for Growth? A couple of weeks ago it was "Citizens for Prosperity". A couple of weeks before that it was the OCPA. Next the D.O. will state that the Hair Club for Men has recently released a study showing that only three of our Representatives have supported research funding for the follicly challenged?

When I say the D.O., I mean the Daily Oklahoman. They are the originators of this story.

Like silly Sally Kern; unfortunately it seems to work with certain voters.

I don't think Bud or Hanna can tell the difference between a Fallin and a Falling. Mary might have to run some ads in Tulsa, "I am not Anna Falling" with the zoo in the background.

Mr Left: Did the Representative step on your toes too hard or what? I AM WITH YOU ALL THE WAY MR. SULLIVAN and I AM A REGISTERED DEMOCRAT (until I change it in just a few days.) Mary Fallin is GREAT, too, and she is getting my vote for governor.

But...but where are Jim and Tom's names, those shining beacons of Conservatism? Oh, they're not in the show of hands because their hands are behind their backs, accepting "gifts and gratuities, greasy or not!"
Oh, I get it! Man, I'm tempted to vote for them, if only out of admiration for their sleazy hypocrisy! I think the true conservatives just called Jim and Tom RINOs!
Fat cats is no longer descriptive enough - I think it should now be the Fat chameleons, RINO and DINO!
