Inhofe threatens boycott of climate change meeting

COUNTER HEARING
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe: He says that if Sen. Barbara Boxer moves forward with a Senate committee meeting on the bill, the Republicans on the panel will stay away for their own hearing. Democrats have a 12-7 advantage on the Environment and Public Works Committee, but the rules say two GOP members must be present to have a quorum.

WASHINGTON — If a key Democrat moves ahead with plans to act on a sweeping climate change bill next week as expected, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said Thursday that he and his fellow Republicans will delay the measure by staying away from the meeting.

Instead, the Oklahoma Republican said, the GOP members on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold their own counter hearing.

Such a boycott will delay the landmark measure, which is a top priority of certain Senate Democrats and the Obama administration.

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., chairman of the Senate committee, held three days of hearings this week on the bill by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.

Boxer is expected to serve notice Friday that she will schedule a mark-up of the legislation next week, possibly as early as Tuesday.

Inhofe said he and his fellow Republicans on the committee are united in their efforts to at least delay the bill.

He said the American people deserve to know more about the impact of the bill, specifically the economic burden it will place on them.

Boxer has put that cost at less than 50 cents a day.

Inhofe also cited the failure of the Environmental Protection Agency to do a complete analysis of the proposal.

In testimony earlier this week, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson conceded her agency did not complete such an analysis and pointed to the similarities the Kerry bill shares with the one already passed by the House.

Jackson said it
would take several weeks to do a similar review of the Kerry bill.

A Senate aide said that Democrats hold a 12-7 vote advantage on the committee. Under the panel's rules, two Republicans must be present to have a quorum.

Such backward thinking. Oh, forgot this is Oklahoma.

I have noticed a commonality in these opinions. Those who trust in Obama’s progressive power grab (govt. control, under world laws) also hate and ridicule Oklahoma – and those who fear Obama’s power grab, love and respect Oklahoma.

Sarah Palin and Jim Inhofe are not jokes to patriotic people (lovers of freedom and the Constitution). Neither are they stupid. Palin was not ready for office last election – needed more experience and was too encumbered by child care – but she did effectively say the right things and give the right example.

She did not leave Alaska in need of leadership. It was moving to bigger things, not quitting. There is little time to wake America up to the dangers of Socialism, Marxism, Communism, or Obamaism – whatever you want to call it.

she couldn't even finish her term as governor. she would have abdicated as president by now. it only pays $400,000 a year. she can make that in 4 private speeches to the ill-informed.

The problem with Palin's view of America is that most don't agree with it. She panders to the ultra conservative view points on most issues. She, in reality would be a danger to the country. Dividing this country even further in the culture wars that cannot be won. And the world would vie America as a threat if she were to become president.

Inhofe is the biggest hoax every played on Oklahoma.

I wish if people were going to talk about climate change they would at least, 1) learn the difference between meteorology and climatology, and 2) learn the basics of the carbon, nitrogen, and hydrological cycles.

Lastly, I think people underestimate the Palin woman. I've never thought she was a dumb as those of us left of center make her out to be. She was inexperienced on a national political scale, inexperienced in how things work in D.C., and her antics of inciting crowds didn't go over well on a national level. Will she ever be Presidential material? NO, but she is a shrewd, backstabbing, conniving woman who is smart enough to play the game to get what she wants. She would turn on her own blood, I think, if they got in her way. No dummy would still be in the media as much as Palin has been. She's still working it. You may not like her, like me, but dumb she isn't.

Still, she isn't smart enough, or classy enough to ever be President.

I really can't say there is no climate change...I'm sure that cutting down so many trees is keeping the carbon dioxide from going back to oxygen( at least to a degree). But this has been the coldest October on record. That just don't sound like global warming. Things could change but this has been the coolest 3 month period I ever remember in Oklahoma and I've been here since I moved from Long Beach when I was 6. Take it for what it's worth.

Delaware - trust me ... Conservatives are more angry at the GOP than at the libtards. Obama could have only won the election against a sponge - and the GOP managed to find one as a candidate.

Skeptic - "I'm always amused by those conservatives who want to throw everyone under the bus once their team is no longer in power"

I won't deny they are out there - it does not describe me - or the majority of conservatives. Most of us have been angry since the end of Reagan's first term.

We have been betrayed on taxes, borders, abortion, NAFTA, GATT, WTO, amnesty of illegals, Patriot Act ... just to hit some of the hi-lites.

I wouldn't give you 10 cents for the bulk of the GOP - spineless cowards, little better than liberals.

Laugh away kiddos ...

The fact remains, she has 2 major qualities that our Dear Leader sorely lacks.

Patriotism
Common Sense

Those 2 items alone will win an election. McCain had Patiotism but not enough sense to come in out of the liberal rain, so he lost his base of support. Zer0bama had neither but liberals vote agendas - not merit.

Skeptic, Palin loves America, as it has existed and was intended to be. Zer0bama, and his wife, do NOT. Instead, they have a vision of a different America - an America more closely resembling the failed socialist/marxist structure - an America they could then love.

As for common sense, yes, Palin has that. While you may not understand - she thinks like most of America. Proud - Loyal - Patiotic. I would trust her to make decisions based upon what is best for the country. Zer0bama makes decisions based upon his dream to "remake" America into something it should never become.
