Inhofe threatens boycott of climate change meeting
COUNTER HEARING
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe:
He says that if Sen. Barbara Boxer moves forward with a Senate committee meeting on the bill, the Republicans on the panel will stay away for their own hearing. Democrats have a 12-7 advantage on the Environment and Public Works Committee, but the rules say two GOP members must be present to have a quorum.

WASHINGTON — If a key Democrat moves ahead with plans to act on a sweeping climate change bill next week as expected, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said Thursday that he and his fellow Republicans will delay the measure by staying away from the meeting.
Instead, the Oklahoma Republican said, the GOP members on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold their own counter hearing.
Such a boycott will delay the landmark measure, which is a top priority of certain Senate Democrats and the Obama administration.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., chairman of the Senate committee, held three days of hearings this week on the bill by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.
Boxer is expected to serve notice Friday that she will schedule a mark-up of the legislation next week, possibly as early as Tuesday.
Inhofe said he and his fellow Republicans on the committee are united in their efforts to at least delay the bill.
He said the American people deserve to know more about the impact of the bill, specifically the economic burden it will place on them.
Boxer has put that cost at less than 50 cents a day.
Inhofe also cited the failure of the Environmental Protection Agency to do a complete analysis of the proposal.
In testimony earlier this week, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson conceded her agency did not complete such an analysis and pointed to the similarities the Kerry bill shares with the one already passed by the House.
Jackson said it would take several weeks to do a similar review of the Kerry bill.
A Senate aide said that Democrats hold a 12-7 vote advantage on the committee. Under the panel's rules, two Republicans must be present to have a quorum.

Thank you Mr. Inhofe for doing what we sent you to Washington to do ... represent us. It's those like you who are standing up to Obama's and the Democrats Socialist agenda that will make the difference.
Funny how Obama is in such a hurry to pass everything from Climate bills to Socialized medicine but he want's to "take his time" on sending more troops to Afghanistan like his commanders, the same commanders he personally chose, have asked for.
Hang in there Senator Inhofe and keep up the good fight!

Being power hungry is one thing, believing you can control the climate is a bit over the edge. And when it comes to Ms. Boxer, she did such a great job bankrupting Sad Fransisco we should let her get involved inall aspects of our money, even personal finances...NOT!

President Obama and his Democratic politburo must be held in check on thier statism agenda! The Federal branch of the U.S. Government has an impervious aristocratic attitude. "We the People" must put a stop to this in 2010 & 2012. Mr Inhofe keep fighting for the people.

I agree with KJNOKIE. I guess when we are having to wear SCBA's to breathe maybe Oklahomans will change their minds, or maybe everyone loves the spare the air days in Oklahoma. The people without health insurance it is the Republicans who keep blocking this bill all because they are getting all kinds of money from the insurance industry. Wouldn't like to have all your medical bills paid no deductable like Mr. In Hoffe?

So...James will represent us by not representing us? He will pull the shades, turn out the lights and deny Halloween ever happened, right? Guess the seven Republicans can play Oklahoma Hold-em - That's Texas Hold-em with the twist that anyone can win but Jim gets all the money. Maybe he'll donate it to the road fund...(snicker)

Okie dad- I know he doesn't represent everyone in oklahomas way of thinking...do you remember the lesbian debouchery tapes??
"This is, of course a grave concern for the citizens of oklahoma. Imagine girls having to go to the bathroom to relieve themselves, them going to the bathroom to relieve themselves.
On tape, mr. Coburn warns his fellow oklahomans to think about this issue. How has this catastophe happened to us??
When contacted by the ap for a follow up, Coburns spokesperson, John hart, had an explanation, lesbian debeachery has been allowed to happen, he said, because "our kids are getting mixed emotions about sexuallity.
Lesbians of America pack your bags there is a new lesbian Capitol of the world, and it's right here in oklahoma!!!
It may at first be hard to believe that a consertive Midwestern state is a breeding ground for lesbian Sodom and gammorah, bit we have a good source that says the state is in fact a breeding ground for lesbian debeachery..
Now if you believe this I had a mountain for you to ski on in Mexico!!

This coming from a guy who is on the fence about abortion? Mr. Coburn holds a pro-life stance "with regards to abortion"
This from a guy who says the biggest threat
to America is "the homosexual agenda"!
Hopefully he doesn't have to come back to the Oklahoma Capitol anytime soon, cause him and Sally kern will have to pack heat, because
the homosexuals are taking over!!!
No I am not gay, I just believe that everyone was created equal..I thought Mr. Coburn would feel the same way, since he used to be a beacon at a southern baptist church..I guess southern baptists do not believe everyone was created equal..
I like David boren alot, and I think he has been great for the university of oklahoma, but if he wouldn't have givin up his seat, then this jokester coburn wouldn't be a senator !!!

When Inhofe and Coburn make the news I am embarrassed to tell someone I am from Oklahoma. They do not represent everyone in this state and definitely not me. Put your blinders on gentlemen this might actually benefit future generations in this country. Too long it has been whatever was better for the company owners and the men with the money. It is now time to think about the people, the environment, the country and future generations. Get off your high horse and get with the program.

Oh pullease!!! Senator Inhofe has been in the Congress long enough to have seen continents morph. Global warming is real and it is impossible to avoid. The best we can do is slow it down. The evidence is overwhleming. We've been told since elementary school that another ice age would happen. It's just happeining faster than they expected. Jim Inhofe is in denial about global warming. He's probably right about the taxpayer cost of any legilation. We can't legislate nature.

"Boxer has put that cost at less than 50 cents a day."
The U.S. Treasury Department under little Timmy Geithner has put that cost at $1,700 annually per person.
So far as the polar bears? We are in danger of losing a maximum of 150 a year. Get Canada to cut back on the 300 permits it issues for hunting them, or place some restriction on the unlimited number of them that can be killed by Alaskan natives, and the problem is solved without ever touching anyone's heating bill.

2ndjoyce - without Inhofe at the hearings, the discussion has a chance of being rational and intelligent.
I explained to a friend the other day that Jimmy I is probably still in office because Okies refuse to vote for anyone but the incumbent. Look at governor Henry. He won by a few thousand votes, the local republicans said he would ruin the state, then got re-elected with 66% of the vote. The same % by which Inhofe gets re-elected.

I'm always amused by those conservatives who want to throw everyone under the bus once their team is no longer in power. Yet until their loss of power, their "players" were god's gift to America.
Remember, sore losers were always just "losers", but now with a bad attitude.
