WASHINGTON — Here's how Oklahoma senators and House of Representatives members voted on key bills and amendments last week. A "Y" means the member voted for the measure; an "N" means the member voted against the measure; a "?" means the member did not vote; a "P" means the member voted "present."

HOUSE

Vote 1: Coast Guard: The House approved the Coast Guard Authorization Act (H.R. 3619), sponsored by Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn., to authorize appropriations for the Coast Guard in fiscal 2010. The legislation authorizes $10 billion for the Coast Guard and will increase the overall strength of the Coast Guard by 1,500 service personnel to 47,000. The vote Oct. 23 was 385 yeas to 11 nays.

Vote 2: National geospatial mapping program: The House passed the National Land Remote Sensing Outreach Act (H.R. 2489), sponsored by Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, D-S.D., to create a nationwide program, sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey, to help states, communities and universities use satellite imagery for research and education. The vote Tuesday was 379 yeas to 33 nays.

Vote 3: Digital television act continuation: The House passed legislation (S. 1694), sponsored by Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., that will allow funding for grant programs established under the Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act of 2005 to continue through fiscal 2012. The vote Wednesday was unanimous with 420 yeas.

Vote 4: Anniversary of birth of Confucius: The House passed a resolution, sponsored by Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, to honor the 2,560th anniversary of the birth of Confucius by recognizing his contributions to philosophy and social and political thought. The vote Wednesday was 361 yeas to 47 nays.

Vote 5: Interior, Environment conference report: The House agreed to a conference report to accompany the Department of the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H.R. 2996) to fund activities and programs for fiscal 2010. The report allows for a total of $32.2 billion in nonemergency discretionary spending, which proponents noted is $4.6 billion above the equivalent 2009 level but $60 million below the president's request. It includes $3.6 billion for water and sewer infrastructure projects, $1.8 billion for wild land fire suppression, $6 billion for basic operations and backlog maintenance at national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and on Bureau of Land Management lands, an increase in protection and conservation of sensitive lands through the Land and Water Conservation Fund and $6.7 billion for the Indian Health Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The vote Thursday was 247 yeas to 178 nays.

Vote 6: Small Business Financing and Investment Act: The House passed an amendment, sponsored by Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., to the Small Business Financing and Investment Act (H.R. 3854) to prohibit earmarking grant money made available through the Small Business Early-State Investment program. The vote Thursday was 370 yeas to 55 nays.

All practically in lock step together with each other. Now if people can't see that our representatives don't represent the people in their districts...well, what can I say.

Surely the interest in each district are different. Certainly the interests in district 1 are different than those in district 4. But yet they are all practically in lock step to the orders, as Few Clothes surmises in his comment, to the RNC. These guys don't represent us or the State of Oklahoma. They take their orders from the talk radio barons and the RNC.

It's funny I know. But it is nice to see the house honor the foundere of political phylosophy and social foundation of modern (sic) society. He laid the foundation of how societies funtion still to this day.

But I guess Frank Lucas didn't want to be on the record that he was the only Oklahoman as being in denial.
