Three Oklahomans died of the swine flu virus last week, bringing the official number of deaths to 20, state health officials said Thursday.

A Kay County man who died earlier this year before a new reporting system was in place was not counted in this week's numbers. That brings the total to 21.

Seven of the 20 deaths were children, six were adults from 25 to 49 years of age, five were 50 to 64 years of age and two were older than 65, officials said.

Twelve of the 20 people who died had underlying conditions that put them at higher risk of developing complications from the swine flu. Underlying medical conditions among those who died include asthma or other respiratory problems, diabetes, obesity or immune compromising conditions, officials said.

About 128 people were reported hospitalized with complications of swine flu in the state last week, bringing total hospitalizations in Oklahoma to 804, officials said.
