SAYRE — A former Sayre pastor has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for embezzling from the church.
Thirty-nine-year-old Tim Zeman was sentenced Friday morning in Beckham County District Court after previously pleading guilty to taking money from the Church of the Nazarene in Sayre.
Zeman was also ordered to pay more than $170,000 in restitution.

A pastor is someone that is supposed to be looked up to, and sometimes a "guidance counselor" not a thief, I know people are having a hard time getting by but stealing is not an option.

Churches, nonprofits, for profit companies, everyone should have a system of checks and balances. More than one person should be in charge of the money. Solves most embezzlement problems

I guess it just goes to show that going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

This is news I like to see. Men of God are just that, MEN.
I used to attend a very large church in Tulsa. I gave and tithed and donated to the new building and gave and tithed, did i mention i gave? I believed in the word, i spoke in tongues, i laid on hands and i was truly devout. one day i was looking at my last 3 years tax statements and I had given more than i had. I believed in the seed but where was my harves taht was promised? ministers are men, not God. you don't need a church to be a Christian. Give to make a wish foundation, to the USO to American Cancer Society but not to a church, you'll do much more good and you'll feel much better at tax time

Some say power and money corrupt--but it's more likely that power and money attract the corruptible.

RogerQ,
If your motive in "Tithing and Giving"was mainly to receive something back - I'm not surprised that your "harvest" was late.

I AM
Listen to what the preachers and pastors and ministers are laying down, it's all about giving til it hurts so you'll get major rewards in the end. Churches are all about money. Jerry Savelle bought a new jet, Jesse DuPlantis went on stage at Word explosion saying he needed a bigger one than Jerry's. Joyce Meyer stood on stage and flashed her diamonds in the spotlights saying how she loved expensive jewelry. Creflo Dollar Flashed his watch saying he needs to dress well so his people will respect him. Churches are all about money. The Catholic church is the larges single land owning entity in the world. God is not about money, churches are. Remember Oral saying give me $2 million or God will take me home? Well he climbed down out of his tower and drove home when he gave up.
