An attorney for Oral Roberts University expects a former accountant's lawsuit alleging misspending at the school will be dismissed later this month.

"I think it's clear now that Mr. Huddleston has no claims against ORU or any of these defendants," said Jo Anne Deaton, attorney for the university.

Lawyers for Trent Huddleston, who worked as an accountant for Oral Roberts Ministries for about 15 months, have argued that claims of negligence, civil conspiracy and intentional infliction of emotional distress should go forward.

A court filing by defendants earlier this week says none of the claims have merit, and neither does a fraud allegation the judge will also decide at the hearing Jan. 27.

A separate lawsuit filed by a former ORU student will be considered for dismissal that same day under the same judge.

In his lawsuit, Huddleston claims ORU and former president Richard Roberts funneled money from the ministry to unmarked bank accounts and also spent university funds on themselves and their house.

Richard Roberts resigned in November 2007 and the university is expected to name a new president this year.
