HUGO — A 55-year-old Texas man is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Choctaw County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Randy Wayne Johns of Paris, Texas, was killed in Friday's night's crash. Troopers say he was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple injuries.

The collision occurred at 11:05 p.m. on U.S. Highway 70, about 3.5 miles east of Hugo. Troopers say the victim's vehicle was westbound when it veered left of center and then swerved to the right to avoid a collision with an oncoming eastbound vehicle.

But the patrol says the two vehicles collided head-on. The victim was pinned in the wreckage for about one hour.

Troopers say Johns was wearing a seat belt.

My prayers go to the family of Mr. Johns. There is a lot of construction on Highway 70 from Hugo to Idabel. There have been too many accidents during the last several months. We need to all slow down and be alert drivers.
