NORMAN — Donald Michael Reeser was charged Friday with first-degree murder in connection with the June 18 drowning death of 2-year-old Allie Croom.

District Attorney Greg Mashburn said seeking the death penalty is "a very real possibility.”

Mashburn said the charge was filed Friday after the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. He said the decision also was based on evidence he and his assistants gathered at Lake Stanley Draper, where Allie drowned, and on a "forensic” interview with Reeser’s 5-year-old son, who was at the scene June 18, by a representative of The Care Center.

Allie’s mother, Amber Croom, also was at the lake at the time along with a 4-year-old child, according to a court affidavit.

You all know that I'm all about "hang'em high"... but this isn't sitting right with me. I just don't believe this man drowned this girl on purpose... doesn't seem right. Very little reporting of detail, too... man dunks girl underwater at the lake, facing death penalty case... nope, not buying it.

Posting a mug shot while the accused is in a state of shock having been arrested, and then letting the prosecutor tell the story which
prejudices the jury pool as is evident from
the foregoing comments; why should we even
bother having a trial?

Execute him, and then declare that he was probably guilty anyway. That would satiate the
blood lust of the peasants and it would provide the Tulsa World with good story material.

The accused may be guilty, but he isn't UNTIL he is found guilty by a jury. Until then, I would
respectfully suggest that calls for his liquida-
tion are entirely premature.
