APACHE — Caddo County investigators are looking into the drowning of a young child over the weekend.

Police Chief Andrew Roberts says emergency workers received a call for help involving a 1-year-old around 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

Roberts says he won't identify the victim until he receives more information from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the child was being cared for by an older, minor sibling. Both parents were home, but the older child was giving the victim a bath when the incident occurred.

The victim was pronounced dead at Reynolds Army Hospital.

Brown says preliminary evidence indicates the incident may have been an accident, but she says agents will conduct more interviews before drawing any conclusions.
