Stormy Fourth in much of Oklahoma

The Fourth of July got off to a rainy start on Saturday with the possibility of more storms entering the forecast later in the day.

Storms had moved south of Tulsa by 3 p.m. after providing the city with rain during the late morning and early afternoon.

High temperatures in the Tulsa metropolitan area were expected to warm to about 87 degrees on Saturday afternoon.

National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Teague said that thunderstorms could form later in the day in connection with a cold front. However, he said that the earlier clouds and rain have lessened the chances of severe weather in the Tulsa area.

He said that any storms that develop along the front are expected to hit the Tulsa area roughly between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

He said it is possible that some areas may not see any further rain when the cold front moves through due to more stable conditions existing in the wake of the earlier precipitation.

Teague said it is questionable whether any remaining rain will have cleared the area by the time the sun sets at 8:44 p.m., a factor of considerable interest to those with plans involving fireworks on this Fourth of July holiday.

Much of southern Oklahoma is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m.

Teague said the air is more unstable there.

In the wake of the front, Sunday's weather should be pleasant with mostly cloudy expected in the Tulsa area with a high near 86 and light north winds.

Amazing how someone can turn a 4th of July weather report into a political viewpoint.
There is definitely something to celebrate, and it happened 233 years ago, not 8 months ago.

I must be missing something, cause I don't see any political viewpoints here..........?
