An 8-year-old boy Bixby died Monday afternoon in a McIntosh County traffic accident, authorities said.

Zachary Wertz died at the scene of the crash on the Indian Nation Turnpike, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Christina Wertz, 37, was driving northbound on the turnpike about 3 p.m. when she lost control and the vehicle flipped about four times, landing on its wheels, according to the OHP.

Christina Wertz and Hana Grace Wertz, 10, both of Bixby, were transported to Henryetta Medical Center, where they were treated and released, troopers said.

Seat belts were in use at the time of the crash, the OHP reported.
