An Okmulgee man was killed in a Friday night collision west of Beggs.

Henry Young, 59, was driving on Oklahoma 16 near County Road 100 when his car travelled left of center and was struck by tractor trailer driven by Shaun Merchant, 29, or Preston, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Young was pinned in his vehicle for approximately one and a half hours and was extricated by the Beggs Fire Department using the Jaws of Life. He was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Merchant was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

Both men were wearing their seatbelts, according to OHP reports.
