OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma City woman has told police that she helped kill a man whose body was found in the trunk of his burned car near Lake Thunderbird, police reported.

Sheila R. Starr, 24, acknowledged she and boyfriend Antonio Cordell Mendoza beat the man at her apartment, then put his body in the car trunk, according to a court affidavit filed by a Norman police detective.

She said she drove the victim's Saturn from her apartment while Mendoza followed in another car, then set the Saturn ablaze by the lake, according to the affidavit.

Although a motive has not been disclosed, the detective reported the victim's relatives and others said the victim "had socialized with" Starr in the past.

Police also reported phone records show the victim called her number from his cell phone three times between 2 and 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 15. A witness called 911 at 4:47 a.m. the same day to report the car on fire.

Starr and Mendoza, 23, of Oklahoma City, were arrested Nov. 21. A third suspect, Michael Anthony Shields, 36, of Oklahoma City, was arrested Tuesday. Norman police reported in a news release that Shields confessed to his part in the killing. No additional arrests are expected.

All three suspects were being held Saturday in the Cleveland County Jail, according to sheriff's office officials there. Oklahoma County prosecutors said they will be charged in Oklahoma County.

The 46-year-old victim has been identified by different last names. He was identified as Julian Ramirez Cazarez in Norman police news releases, but police affidavits identified him as Julian Cazares Ramirez and Julian Ramirez Cazares.

Starr is on probation for a marijuana offense. She told police that she and Mendoza moved after the killing, according to the affidavit.

I still can't imagine why anyone would think of murder as no big deal. Do they really think they will never get caught. Loved ones are made to suffer because of someone else's callousness. Just doesn't make any sense.

I just don't understand why they talk and confess. As most of these type of cases can't be made without a confession. Like I said in a earlier post. 90% of inmates are there not because the evidence put them their but, because they talked or confessed.

a lot of them are dumb, to begin with.
They try to concoct pea brained
explanations with brains that have been
abused with drugs and alcohol for years;
everybody is dumb, but them. Then they meet a
seasoned TPD Detective.
As their lies start to unravel, they panic
and they either give up the farm, or clam
up, having already said too much for an
overburdened public defender to explain away.
the next stop is a 3x6 love nest with an
aggressive and amorous cell mate.
Isn't it crazy?

"the right to remain silent" is always best even if you are a dufus. A good attorney can twist things around just as good as the folks on the 'other' side of the law

Swift execution for the three. When these type of people are tried, convicted and sentenced to death and then put to death in about six months or less time will we see a decline in these types of crimes.

Let's hope those that would kill don't read tw posts so they will all sing and save us a lot of money in court. :)

Please explain why you would hope these people would not read TW posts? What I would like to know is why the police don't explain this to the suspects they arrest in plain and simple terms they can understand. Looks like justice is not as fair as it appears in law.

If they are stupid enough to talk to the police after being read their miranda rights and confess it saves tax payor dollars because many will probably plead out.

But they don't do it that way elusive. They him haw about the weather, school, mothers, kids, dogs, neighbors dogs, churches, money, how bad their wives treat them, how they were in a similar situation, they would have done the same ting type conversations, and then read them their Miranda rights. It's bogus.

Does anyone know OKC's homicide count for this year?
