A Broken Arrow woman died when she was ejected from a pickup that overturned Monday night in Creek County, and a Bokoshe woman died Tuesday afternoon when she was partially ejected from a vehicle in LeFlore County.

Dead are Kattie Ann Miller, 19, of Broken Arrow and Debra J. Fout, 50, of Bokoshe.

Miller was a passenger in a 2005 Dodge truck that rolled after it ran off 449th West Avenue south of 261st Street in Creek County about 7 p.m., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The driver, Savoy Alexander, 19, of Depew, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, troopers reported.

Miller was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, troopers said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the LeFlore County crash, Fout was driving east on U.S. 59 when her 1972 Chevrolet pickup ran off the road, hit an embankment and overturned, the OHP reported.

She was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected, troopers reported. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 3-year-old passenger, Destiny D. Fout, also of Bokoshe, was not in a child restraint, troopers reported. The child was treated for minor injuries at a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital and was released.

"Depew, who was uninjured, was wearing his seatbelt, while Miller was not, according to the OHP."

What exactly does this mean?? According to the article, Mr. Alexander was FROM Depew. This makes it sound like someone named Depew was driving Ms. Miller's car.

I have had a rule for years and it still goes today. If you are in my vehicle you will wear your seat belt, period. If I have to ask you to fasten your seat belt and you get your feelings hurt, tough.

I do send my condolences to the family. No matter how or why it is still a grief for someone.
