Booster club gave funds to coach
District policy does not allow reimbursement for in-state trips.
Allan Trimble

Read more about the Jenks football program investigation.
JENKS — A review of Jenks football booster club contributions to suspended Jenks head football coach Allan Trimble shows that some contributions went against district policy.
And, after weeks of requests, the district has said where Trimble is now working and described his current duties. Trimble is working at Jenks East Elementary School, 8925 S. Harvard Ave., while on suspension from his coaching duties.
On more than one occasion during the 2008-09 fiscal year, Trimble received money in the form of travel reimbursements from the Trojan Football Booster Club, according to booster club financial records released by the district to the Tulsa World.
Trimble could not be reached for comment.
Trimble receives a $2,400 car allowance from the school district as part of his contract and cannot be reimbursed by the club for in-state trips, said district spokeswoman Tara Thompson. After reviewing the information, it appears that on more than one occasion, he was reimbursed for those type of trips, she said.
"After thorough review of the invoices in question, we recognize that Allan Trimble should not have received the mileage reimbursement since the travel was for in-state purposes and he does receive a car allowance," Thompson said. "We are taking the necessary steps to ensure
this does not occur in the future. All other expenditures were legitimate and legal."
However, because the violations occurred in the previous fiscal year, it was decided that Trimble wouldn't have to reimburse the booster club or the school, Thompson said.
"Those expenses happened in the '08-'09 fiscal year, and so since it is essentially a district error, it has not been our past practice to go back into fiscal years and correct those mistakes," Thompson said.
There have been no such expenses during the current fiscal year, she said.
The amount Trimble was given for such trips and the number of times he was paid were not available Friday.
Trimble was voluntarily suspended and lost half of his football coaching stipend on Oct. 2, after the school released a report that implicated him and other coaches and athletic staff in recruiting violations. Later, Trimble was suspended from coaching indefinitely by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association. He will continue to be paid half his coach stipend, his administrator's salary and benefits, which totals around $94,340.50.
Currently, Trimble is assigned to Jenks East Elementary School, where his duties include helping students who might have discipline issues, coordinating and supervising a daily morning outdoor run for students and coordinating and supervising a planning committee for the school's new playground equipment, Thompson said.
In addition, Trimble is starting a mentoring program to help students who need academic support, Thompson said. None of his duties includes supervising other employees or requires an administrator's certificate from the Oklahoma State Department of Education, she said.

I'm shocked, shocked, to hear that the Jenks football program may have violated some silly rules.

so he's a recess monitor? seriously? cut your losses, jenks, and start out fresh. more will surface and it will look better for the district if he's referred to as "former head football coach".

Nah, nothing more will surface, they have had to much time to clean things up paperwise.

The Trimble soap opera in Jenks continues. I wonder just how many times Trimble applied for reimbursements he wasn't entitled to?

Do you think NSU will continue use Trimble's mug to represent one example of NSU's outstanding college graduates in future school promotions?

They can't fire him, he has a contract. The cleanest, and cheapest way to get rid of him is to reassign him, and wait for the contract to expire.

Wow in these current days of statewide educational budget cuts, a $94,340.50 elementary "teacher." Would someone please wake me up from this drunken trip...

Mark, it would be interesting to read his contract and compare it to others. Bet there is nothing in it about breaking the rules.

It's a shame that this man is taking the salary of three teachers that I am sure the district could use.

Actually he has a BETTER deal than a college coach. In college he would have competition in recruiting!
Almost a 100 Grand a year to only coach High School ball....they had to reassign him to a made up job because before this....coach WAS his only JOB! Now he is a playground monitor! Besides.... College he has to keep them eligible...in H.S. EVERYBODY PASSES! Especially the jocks! No wonder student-ATHLETE is a oxymoron!

A bit off topic-last week, Bartlesville went 87 yards in about 6 plays to score the first TD of the game. When the teams lined up for the extra point, the game was stopped by the officials. Bartlesville police ushered someone from the Jenks sideline wearing dockers and a maroon shirt. What happened?

Next thing you know, the Tulsa World will be reporting that he got a parking ticket. Someone tell them that they are not Sports Illustrated and Trimble is not Bob Knight.

Herbie, sounds like someone needs to tell the alumni or booster club that it's a HIGH SCHOOL they are passing illegal gifts off to. They're the ones who seem to be having a problem figuring out Jenks isn't Harvard.

The rest of the story...the man who was escourted out by police was the Jenks athletic director. He was yelling profanities at...the JENKS players. LOL! Not the officials. Not the Bruins. His own players! Gaa! No wonder they're in such a mess!
The only mystery in all of this is why it took so long for the news media to be break this story. I've been hearing rumors about this for 20 years and it is just now coming to light? C'mon!

In related news, the home ec teacher will espouse the nuances of the 3-4 defense and how to avoid getting a police escourt in the first five minutes of a game. LOL!!!
