City Hall will be closed Wednesday as city workers take their fourth furlough day ahead of the regular Thanksgiving holiday Thursday and Friday.

The Parks Department's recreation centers also will be closed Wednesday through Friday, and there will be no City Council committee meetings Tuesday.

Tulsa Municipal Court will be open Wednesday but closed Thursday and Friday. Juvenile Court will convene Wednesday evening.

The city's green waste site at 10401 E. 56th St. North will be closed Thursday, Friday and Sunday. It will be open on Saturday.

Trash and curbside recycling service will not operate Thursday. Customers with once-a-week Thursdaypickup should put their trash out for pickup on Saturday.

Otherwise, twice-a-week trash customers should put their refuse out the following Monday, and recycling customers should put their recyclables out Friday.

Tulsa Transit will have no service Thursday. On Friday, buses will operate under Saturday service schedules.

The city's Animal Welfare Shelter will be open noon-6 p.m. Wednesday and noon-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Mohawk and Page Belcher golf courses, Tulsa Zoo and Gilcrease Museum will be open Wednesday-Friday.

Residents who need assistance with a water or sewer problem may call the city's 24-hour emergency number: 596-9488.

Downtown parking meters will not be enforced Wednesday through Friday.

Furlough days were included as part of budget reductions for the current fiscal year than runs from July through June 2010.

All 4,000 city employees are taking eight furlough days because of the city's budget crunch. The measure is saving $5 million.

No around-the-clock operations, such as police, fire, 911 dispatching and some public works functions, will be affected.

I hope they enjoy that extra day off for the holiday. They wont be so rushed to get dinner ready or to drive someplace.
It might not be so good when payday comes, but at least they have a job.
