Coburn sour on economy
Disagrees with Obama's politics
U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn:
Obama's "intent is not to destroy, his intent is to create dependency because it worked so well for him," he said. "As an African-American male," Coburn said, Obama received "tremendous advantage from a lot of these programs."

Listen to Sen. Coburn's town hall event at Langley (1 hour audio mp3 file that might require additional load time).
PRYOR - U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn spread his dire warnings through northeastern Oklahoma on Wednesday, predicting economic disaster, the quick unraveling of the debt ceiling agreement and the demise of Medicare.
Coburn spoke to large crowds in Claremore, Langley, Pryor and Muskogee on Tuesday, despite being somewhat under the weather.
"We have less than 16 months to fix this," he told a Chamber of Commerce group in Langley. "I can promise you that come July you're going to see some tough, tough stuff in this country."
Coburn said much the same thing later at Integris Mayes County Medical Center in Pryor, where he encountered a little more hostility to his proposed cuts to Medicare and veterans benefits.
"Show me where in the Constitution the federal government is responsible for your health care?" Coburn said.
He went on to say that government programs such as Medicare are primarily responsible for rapidly rising health-care costs, and that Medicare has made the medical system worse.
"You can't tell me the system is better now than it was before Medicare," he said.
Coburn agreed that some people received poor care - or no care - before Medicare was enacted in the 1960s, but said communities worked together to make sure most people received needed medical attention.
He also conceded that doctors and hospitals often went unpaid for their efforts, or accepted baked goods or chickens in partial payment.
Earlier, in Langley, Coburn partially deflected criticism of President Barack Obama - and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke - by blaming the country's financial woes on Congress. He described his colleagues as "a class of career elitists" and "cowards," and at one point, talking about his frustrations, said, "It's just a good thing I can't pack a gun on the Senate floor."
But Coburn also said most members of Congress are good people with good intentions.
Responding to a man in Langley who asked if Obama "wants to destroy America," Coburn said the president is "very bright" and loves his country but has a political philosophy that is "goofy and wrong."
Obama's "intent is not to destroy, his intent is to create dependency because it worked so well for him," he said.
"As an African-American male," Coburn said, Obama received "tremendous advantage from a lot of these programs."
Coburn went on to say that most of the country's problems were created by Congress and that "I don't think presidents matter that much."
Coburn said he hopes the so-called "super committee" formed to rein in federal spending will be successful, but he is not optimistic. In Pryor, he predicted that Congress would back off the spending-control feature of the debt ceiling agreement rather than agree to spending cuts.
"The cowards in Washington won't even put that through," he said.

Did he say anything that was not true? He graduated from Columbia without honors, so his grade point had to be below 3.3. This does not qualify one to enter Harvard Law School, but he was allowed in anyway. This means another applicant that did qualify was denied admission.
Obama definitely received extra benefits due to his race, is that not a form of prejudice? Now who is the denier?

Did you libs even read the article? Coburn is saying Obama is simply clueless.
"his intent is to create dependency" - Coburn
Duh!
With 15% of the population now on food stamps, you think one in six Americans will vote to take away their free money?

So you believe that being on food stamps is a lot of fun ?
You are to be pitied, God must be busy.

Only one problem with the theory that "Obama's intent is to create dependency"
The big corporations depend on the Republicans to shelter their tax breaks, and I believe it was a Republican president that Wall-Street banks, a number of smaller banks and a couple of American Auto Makers depended on to financially bail them out of their financial mess. George H.W. Bush bailed out the savings and loans when he was President.
So for Coburn to say that Obama's "intent is to creat dependency", is a little out of line in terms of pinpointing one person. Government hand-outs are government hand-outs whether they go to a guy out of work, or a Millionaire Banker.

How come I never ever ever hear you talk about farm subsidies?
Nine hundred thousand dollars to one republican legislator can sure buy a lot of food stamps.
If they simply took out processed foods the food stamp system waste would dissipate over night. But too many corporations and conservatives would get cut out of the deal if that were too happen. So the hacks like you continue your charade too demonize the system while profiting from it at the same time.

Not to mention the $1,000,000 plus dollars that our wonderful "conservative" republican governor's husband has recieved in farm subsidies.
I wonder if he "depended" on Obama when he recieved all of that money or did that happen prior to Obama taking office?
When are you so called "conservative" morons going to start thinking for yourselves and quit listening to Hannity and Limbaugh.

What is the intent of the farm subsidies program ran by the USDA? Dependency, without a doubt.
In 2010 the USDA spent $369 million dollars on supporting farm land in Oklahoma. The astounding fact is 60% or $236,488,444 was all in the Third district. With the drought conditions continuing, this will probably be another banner year of ‘farming the government’ for the few land-owners who live in Red Carpet Country, the least populated part of Oklahoma but the strongest for the GOP! What a scam.

Omegaspin....did you not read the comment? He is saying things that give away is true feeling. That's all he is saying. The title for this article really is misleading.
Perhaps it should read...."Coburn Makes Racist Remarks towards Obama"
or

Did you know that over 85% of the people who get food stamps have jobs? The problem is that wages are stagnant and low paying jobs can't support a family.
Did you know that for every dollar in food stamps the local economy gets $1.84 back in economic growth? Food stamps are what keeps a lot of local grocery stores open and people working at those stores.
Instead of blaming working people who are doing the best they can, why don't you save some venom for companies who are making record profits while cutting benefits and freezing wages?

Spoken by a man who truly believes what he states.
But he'll be 'roasted' for his honest perceptions.
Too bad, but this tactic taken by opponents is what defines politics today.

Obama's political philosophy is shared by way too many people to dismiss it as "goofy and wrong" and based only on Obama's personal dependence on social programs rather than empirical evidence that such programs benefit society. This is a new theory to me - does Coburn simply assume that, being a black guy and all, Obama has clearly relied his whole life on welfare and food stamps, cuz' that's just what they do? I don't understand Coburn's intent with this statement at all.

Coburn is just stating the factual truth that each and every one of us already know. He just has the balls to say it. And he always has!!! Leave it to Tom to tell it like it is .....like it or not! We have more and more "dependents" every year. Someday the rich guy is no longer going to be there ..... then what??? Who will pay your bills?
