SALLISAW — State Rep. John Bennett, R-Sallisaw, meeting Monday night with about 85 constituents at a Republican gathering at Western Sizzlin’ here, did not back down from statements he made earlier this month that were critical of Islam.
Bennett has been at the center of a political maelstrom that has gained national attention since he published comments on social media warning people to be wary of Muslim Americans and then refused to apologize in the face of mounting criticism.
Asked before the meeting whether he planned to apologize for his comments, Bennett said, “No. Because I’m right, and they know I’m right.”
“CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) used political pressure to make me back down, but I didn’t and I’m not going to,” he said to a standing ovation.
Bennett, who served in the U.S. Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan, said he has heard from people all over the world supporting his position.
In a lengthy presentation that included videos made within U.S. mosques, Bennett outlined a history of the Islamic faith and his views that Islam is a sociopolitical movement intent upon destruction of Western civilization and world domination.
“Their goal is the destruction of Western civilization from within,” he said.
“This is a cancer in our nation that needs to be cut out.
“The media is playing right into their hands,” he said.
“We need to share his (Jesus’) story, love others and stand for freedom,” he said to loud applause.
“I love each and every one of them, but I’m not going to stand back and let them push Islam into our nation.”
He said the FBI has severed ties with CAIR in part because the organization was alleged to be an unindicted co-conspirator in a major trial about funding terrorism.
Ibrahim Hooper, communications director of CAIR in Washington, D.C., said the unindicted co-conspirator charge against CAIR was legal “mumbo jumbo” that came out of the Holy Land Foundation trial in 2007.
“The key word is ‘unindicted,’” he said.
One attendee, Alan Beard, said he was “100 percent in agreement with what John said, and I stand behind him.”
“You just have to look at other countries like England and Australia where they’ve gotten a foothold,” he said.
Another listener asked how to get Islam out of school textbooks.
“Islam has no place in these United States,” she said.
Also on Monday, Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry released a resolution calling for Bennett and Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman David Weston to apologize for remarks that “put all Muslims in Oklahoma in one group, associating them with terrorists and encouraging fear and wariness among our citizens against other citizens.”
The resolution was signed by more than two dozen groups affiliated with the local Say No to Hate Coalition, including the Jewish Federation of Tulsa, Tulsa Interfaith Alliance, Oklahomans for Equality and several churches.
Bennett’s criticism of Islam comes at a time when polling indicates Middle East violence and the beheading of two American journalists may be shifting U.S. public opinion against the world’s second-largest religion.
Half of Americans now believe Islam is more likely to encourage violence than other religions, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted in early September.
That figure is up 12 percentage points since February, when 38 percent answered affirmatively.
Older Americans, Republicans, conservatives and evangelical Christians were much more likely to link Islam to violence: white evangelicals, 70 percent, up 16 points since February; conservative Republicans, 72 percent, up 11 points; people 65 or older, 64 percent, up 18 points.
Forty-two percent of Democrats agreed with the statement, a 14-point increase since February. One-third of adults under 30 agreed, up six points from February.
The poll also showed that increasing numbers of Americans are concerned about Islamic extremism in the United States and abroad.

To mischaracterize all Muslims as Islamic extremists is wrong! This rhetoric sounds a great deal like the justification for the extermination of Jews decades ago!
Mr. Bennett's service is greatly appreciated and he is certainly entitled to his opinions. However, he owes an apology to the Muslims living in this country who are productive, law-abiding citizens - many of whom have also served this country in uniform - and who peacefully practice their faith, yet must live in constant fear of Christian extremists who mischaracterize them solely on the basis of their faith - and incite others to act out of misguided fear. As has been pointed out by others posting to this continuing saga, there are many passages within the Old Testament of OUR Bible that call for the death of "non-believers". We don't take our Bible literally - except when it supports our opposition to gay marriage. We certainly don't stone adulterers to death (we elect them to political office).
If all Muslims are Islamic terrorists, then why are ISIS followers slaughtering Muslims? Because not all Muslims are extremists! Islamic terrorists are politically-motivated and borne from decades/centuries of oppression by majority dictatorial "governments" .
Extremists exist within all faiths. Upon realizing that "governing" empowers those with a shared view of desired societal behavior to effect change, "fundamentalists" become "political activists".
This nation was founded by those seeking freedom from persecution for practicing their faith. After 200+ years, are we going to forsake the dream that brought Our Founders to this nation and persecute all Muslims for the heinous acts of the extremists within? By all means, PROsecute the Islamic terrorists - don't PERsecute law-abiding Muslims peacefully practicing their faith (and NOT taking passages of the Quran literally)!
I find it interesting to read that most of the liberal comments are trying to refer to Hitler exterminating the Jewish people. Do you realize why Hitler actually wanted them killed? You cannot even begin to compare the differences, yet just like William the Great Dusenberry, you want to try and justify your comments from some action decades, if not centuries ago. I suggest each and every one of you who feel that these terrorists are not a threat, go over to their country, try to reason with them and see how that ends up. I would also suggest that you have your last will and testament prepared and advise your family where the document is as that will be the last time you have any contact with them.l
"Do you realize why Hitler actually wanted them killed?" I know what I've read but I'm curious what your explanaiton is.
Peggy, I bet you are curious. With that in mind, I'll leave it at that.

In the USA -- everyone except Muslim's most lilkely agree with Rep Bennett.
In the MIddle Ease; practically everyone would disagree with Rep Bennett.
Why?
Does where we happen to have been born -- determine who our god is?
Yes; because all gods are "man-made."
So fighting about which god is better -- is an exercise in futility.
The only provable god, is the god of the Secular Humanist Pantheists; and all SHP'ers are advised to do, in order to be good people, is to follow the "Golden Rule." No silly superstitious nonsense is required.
Kant's "categorical Imperative" (Golden Rule) recommends, "whatever one advocates, it should be assessed as if everyone on earth were to follow such advice."
If everyone on earth, because an Islamist; or a Christian (remember the Dark Ages) -- the earth would be a brutal, horrible place.
But if everyone became a Secular Humanist Pantheist -- the earth would be a much safer place.
The major difference between Islam. and Christianity, is in the public relations.
But the issue of which god is better, Allah, or the Christan god, remains unanswered, until now.
Islam only has one god; but Christianity has three (count the Devil, make it four).
So, which is better, one beating;or four beating?
Which is better; four years in prison; or one?
One hundred dollars; or four hundred dollars?.
Sometimes one is better than four; other times, four is better than one.
There; the god question is finally answered
It's a good thing you have no clue as to what you talk about on here or you would be dangerous instead of laughable.

As usual, the infamous shoofly makes his opinionated comment.
Secular Humanist Pantheists = Big Joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![lol]
The FBI has severed ties with CAIR? Big deal. FBI. Pffft, what do they know. The key word is ‘unindicted.’ It's just legal mumbo jumbo. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Just a twit talking to more twits in Sallisaw. What a loser. Radicalized republicans.
Half of Americans now believe Islam is more likely to encourage violence than other religions, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted in early September.
What did they expect? What happens when a head is cut off with a knife each week and the video is posted online for all the world to see? From a PR standpoint, Islam is its own worst enemy.
And that half of America is clueless of any other religion outside of their own. Some aren't even 100% certain of their own religion that they claim.
So what does that Pew survey REALLY mean? Not too much....
You simply dismiss half the population of this country with a wave of your hand? Really? Please, keep talking. Tell us more.
Bigot milking easy applause from fellow bigots!
Bet John Bennett could find a way to get some applause the the next KKK meeting he speaks at, too.
he was speaking at a hate orgy. Kinky
Jeffie, maybe you could direct him to where their next meeting is, since you know so much about that organization.
The man is entitled to his opinion and by the sound of it, his constituents in attendance are in agreement as well. Political correctness has no business here, especially when it comes to issues involving our national security. Those that take offense and demand apologies are gutless cowards hiding behind a national wave of fantasy induced Utopia that does not, and will not exist!
Thomas and Craighead are followers of an intolerant bigot who espouses hatred of other Human beings...
They probably hate homosexuals and non Christians in general.
What many decry as "political correctness" is merely what my mother taught me was "good manners." There seem to be a true lack of "manners" in our country now. It is perfectly ok to demean Muslims, gays, Hispanics, Blacks, and any other group or person someone considers to be a "threat" to their way of life. Whether it is true or not, it is now fair game to go after any minority. I truly thought we had gotten past this, but it is obvious we have not. So sad
This is why nobody ever worships a cowardly liberal like Jesus Christ. Christian beliefs of "turn the other cheek" will not work in modern society.
Political correctness be damned! I only demand correctness!! That was totally void in his spewage!
True. He, as a private citizen IS entitled to his opinion. But when his opinion as a publicly elected official interferes with the US Constitutional rights of others, particularly, his own constituents, then there is CLEARLY a problem. And, while he's entitled to his own opinion(s), he's NOT entitled to his on set of fabrications he claims as "facts".
Why did the FBI cut their relations with CAIR?
Left wing liberal pukes prefer seeing Americans getting their heads cut off by Muslims than face the truth
Name-calling conservatives prefer publicly exposing their ignorance and prejudice to civil discourse as they might actually learn something. Of course, we all know you can rationalize your behavior because someone else called you a name first.
Quit being such a cry baby johnnie
[thumbup][thumbup]
Liberals always cry when they don't get their way, then they take up a cause that will help them win games in the school yard.
Charles, please be sure the next time you need to see a specialist physician and his or her last name "sounds" middle-eastern, to be sure and refuse treatment until you can find a "real American? doctor
m.s. guess what? I have a Dr. whose name you suggested is exactly that. I even had a choice in changing my doctor through the VA, but elected not too due to the fact that she (and notice I said she) appeared to be very factual, was informative and seemed to know what she was doing. So...your comment doesn't appear to have much merit to a degree.
Dave, if you read my message you would be able to tell it was not directed towards you unless you and Charles are one in the same[beam]
m. s.
You will agree that some Muslims WANT Christians and Jews to be dead wouldn't you? There have been some Muslims who are vocal with that desire. If I chose a doctor who is a Muslim, I would want to know him or her personally before I would choose them to help me through an illness even though doctors do take an oath to "do no harm". If they have chosen to embrace Islam, I would not feel very trusting of such a person unless I knew them well enough to trust their judgments, and I do not know many physicians personally... therefore, I would probably choose someone who has not chosen to embrace the Islamic ideology. People have a choice of the ideology that they embrace in this country and to some extent they can currently even choose their own doctors.
Good luck with that. I will agree that extremists of any religion want other people dead. I don't agree that it is likely that our Muslim neighbors in Oklahoma would fall into that category and I hate seeing them labeled as such. It's a shame for anyone to let fear over-ride common sense and compassion.
I should add that there are doctors who embrace other ideologies that I would not feel comfortable with guiding my healthcare. Some of those are Christian ideologies and some are atheistic and others. There are some very good Muslim doctors and there are some very good atheist doctors and proponents of other ideologies however. Choosing a doctor is a very personal decision.
ms, you shouldn't be so paranoid about doctors with foreign names or from foreign countries.
[lol]
A typical liberal response.
Actually, it s right wing extremists from every political and religious groups that usually causes the problems. Nazis share political beliefs reflective of today's right wingers in the U.S. Exploit fear, use self interest over altruism.

A man desperate for his job will say or do anything. He should be asking why Sallisaw is the epicenter of the Meth cancer in this state. What kind of people cook poison for others to consume? Instead, a state representative that has input to making a difference in state drug laws is running around talking about an issue he has no influence over. A waste of taxpayer money!
Larry, I have a news flash for you. Tulsa County had the highest rate of meth labs in the state according to 2013 stats. C'mon man.
[thumbup]
Thanks Larry.
Of course there's concern over Islamic extremists and their actions, but that doesn't mean that everyone who practices the Muslim religion is an extremist, violent or dangerous.
A wise person who wants to be a leader, would have the good sense to rephrase his statement and apologize for being misunderstood.
We've been electing too many individuals who lack wisdom.
Deb K. why should he apologize? I didn't misunderstand him. Too many times, people are having to rephrase their statements just because some group thinks it is offensive. I find it offensive that some of our citizens and those of other countries are being televised having their throats cut and their heads removed. Somehow, I feel that you and people like you, i.e. Bernie, etc. had no anger towards the suicide mission at the twin towers, yet thought those people who flew the jets into the ground, the pentagon, etc., were just misunderstood people and they were only trying to make a statement. Well, here is a cold hard fact. They will attack again.
Dave: I agree with you, in that, I fully understood the idiocy that Bennett was babbling.
Sadly, you appear to be as deceived as he is to espouse a foolish belief that the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks had ANYTHING to do with Islam....! That further invalidates any opinion that you have on the topic![angry]
I like how Galen not only dismisses, but also revokes and invalidates any further thoughts and/or opinions from anyone who disagrees with him. He's already written off half the population of the US for being ignorant of Islam. Please enlighten the infidels with more of your recourse, Galen.
Dave, your assumptions and accusations that some of us are not angry over terrorist acts is as wrong as Bennet's babbling.
During my 60+ years, I've met a lot of Christians who were dishonest and wear their faith to instill trust in their would-be victims AND I've known a lot of Christians who were honest, good people.
Would it be fair to state that ALL Christians are crooks and swindlers because "some" are?
It's as wrong as stereotyping an entire race or nationality based on the actions of a few.
Do you think we were right to place Japanese Americans in internment camps too?
"Bennett, said he has heard from people all over the world supporting his position."
He can add me to the list...[thumbup] [thumbup]
Don, anything you say should always be [thumbdown][thumbdown][beam]
Don [thumbup][thumbup]
Bernie, you and others on here who probably have never left Oklahoma let alone Tulsa or surrounding are do not have a clue as to what is out in the real world.
The world is a fearful place. Hitler played on the fear of Jews. Bennett joined his political hero to play on the fear of a religious group. Thank you, Mr. Wright, for helping us paint Rep. Bennett for what he is, a Hitler Lite. He is a bit less hateful, but equally cowardly. Jesus turned water into wine, this turned Rep. Bennett into a whiner.
That is akin to calling Hitler a Nazi. Oh wait, he was. If it walks like a Nazi and exploits fear like a Nazi....it's a Nazi. Sieg heil, Rep. Bennett.
Bernie, you should be fired from your job as a school teacher.
Is that a list of idiots?!
If so, congrats. [sad]
I'm sure Mr. Bennett was waiting for your endorsement. His opinion is now validated.
This guy Bennett is scary dangerous. He is basically freaking out a lot of people for no reason. A politician stirring hate of any kind should be immediately fired and lose all benefits.
He is irresponsible, irrational, and yet many people support and cheer him on.
What's worse, is that there are people who support and encourage his behavior..
The sooner that this fool is removed from office the better.
Bernie, you could always join in and go over to a Muslim country and teach at one of their schools. See how long you would last.
"Scary", Bernie? Take a look at your own image.
Playing to ignorant fear of a religion is despicable behavior for any politician. ISIL is not representative of all Moslems and their ancient text cannot be taken any more literally than the ancient texts used by Christians and Jews. It is not a question of political correctness. It is just common sense.
Ignorance? How much of the Quran have you read? Just because you don't understand why someone would follow a religion to their deaths doesn't mean it isn't happening.
John, I would bet you've never been to a Muslim country where public beheadings and chopping off hands is a near daily ritual. Where women are beaten because their ankles or wrist showed for too long. Where Non-Muslims are persecuted, stoned, tortured or killed simply because they are Non-Muslim.
I have John. It's happening now, they are taking the Quran literally.
Just because you can't comprehend that doesn't mean it's not true.
You are correct that ISIL does not represent all of Islam, they are Sunni Muslim. They represent all Sunnis Shias are a different sect. Sunni's are 89% of the Muslim religion. so you are correct, they don't represent all.
Oh, and you're so ignorant of the religion, you misspelled Muslim.
Thanks for the open minded critique. Moslem is not a misspelling and there are many more sects of the Islamic religions. Ask the Aga Khan, he'll tell you.
ISIL does not even come close to representing all Sunnis. One of my best friends from college is a Sunni. She and her husband lived in Kuwait until the Iraqi invasion. She returned here with their children. He stayed and fought in the resistance against Saddam Hussein. After Kuwait was liberated, he too came to America and lives here happily and peacefully with his wife and children. Ignorance and bigotry is not a good combination
Thanks, John!
Swoffy calls them ISIL... just like Obummer. [wink]
I've heard it referred both ways in the media, including Fox News. Do they have a preference?
If Rep. Bennett is so sure he is right, then why doesn't he propose a new law that would have ALL Muslims arrested and imprisoned for conspiracy to commit murder. He seems so sure they are ALL out to kill ALL Americans, that this should be a logical step.
"The man is entitled to his opinion and by the sound of it, his constituents in attendance are in agreement as well."
Thomas,
Even Hitler convinced thousands of HIS "constituents" that he was right and that the Jews were the cause of all of Germany's problems and that they should be exterminated. Are you ready to follow his example and exterminate ALL Muslims because you think they are out to kill us?
David, since you are the one who proposed how to get rid of all the Muslims in our country, don't you think you are walking the thin line of love and hate?
Personally, I am fine with: 'Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims'.
What about Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols etc., Mr. Mills??
They were domestic terrorists, not religious oriented terrorists like Muslims. McVey, et al., hated the US government and bombed the Murrah Building for that reason.
OK, 99.9999 % of terrorists are Muslims.
Do you remember the IRA?????? Don't think they were Muslims. They called themselves "Catholic." Guess we need to be "wary" of all American catholics as well. And how about the right wing religious fanatics who blow up medical clinics and gun down physicians at their church. Then there are the white supremacy nutz who shoot up Jewish retirement centers and bomb black churches. Unfortunately Muslims do not have the corner on the "terrorist" label. Unless you are blinded by hatred.
[thumbup][thumbup]
Greg
You put a face to the work idiocy.
I love typos in comments when a person calls someone an idiot. I'm sure Galen meant "word."
All terrorists are Muslim? Not quite. Timothy McVeigh was a terrorist, abortion clinic bombers are terrorists, the KKK was (and maybe still is) a terrorist organization, the Irish Republican Army was a terrorist movement, international drug cartels commit acts of terrorism, etc.
Those comparing him to Hitler have no clue about history. I spent 4 years in a Muslim country. I watched barbaric public beheadings and cutting off hands. Anyone who believes in Islam believes in a barbaric, torturous and murderous religion (read cult).
You compare it to Christianity (the old testament). remember, the new testament denounces the old covenant and tells you to be like Jesus. I've read the Quran, If you have not, SHUT UP, you have no grounds to speak. Honestly, I'm an atheist and I can see the difference in the religions, I've read both books. They are much different in their teachings
The one mistake that he made is that not all Muslims are Arab. This cult has infected many other countries and taken over like Indonesia, Bangladesh and Malaysia to name a few... They are killing their own there too and by the nature of its "newness" there, they should be mostly moderate muslims.
Rep Bennett is Hitler? No, Rep Bennett is pointing out Hitler, you are refusing to see it because you've had too much of the CAIR kool-aid. Enjoy Sharia law... it's coming and you don't have a clue.
You, too, are clueless. If you live in the USA, you live in a secular country. With over 2% of the population being Muslim Americans, how many limb amputations or beheadings are occurring in OUR country?
Wait. The "New Testament DENOUNCES the Old Testament"? REALLY? So....where in the NT does God re-create the world and everything in and on it....? Genesis IS the beginning of the OT, but, according to your post, it denounces the OT. I've NEVER heard anyone make such a claim before! Congrats on being the first to do so.....! [beam]
To debunk the lie you've cited more than once, Islam is no cult. It's one of the 3 Abrahamic religions, being Judaism, Christianity & Islam. And reading a book is no proof (apparently) of gaining understanding of said book. Your post, alone, bears witness to that!
Find and read a good definition of a cult and read it. Then review what Islam demands of it's followers. It's a cult all right. Abraham was a sane man. He would not embrace Islam were he alive today and would most likely be insulted to have it linked to his name.
Galen there is a difference between 2% of a population being Muslim and 98% of a population being forced by violence to be Muslim.
Give me freedom of religion please!
Typical Muslim Galen Muhammad , twist words to make your argument. Muslims do it with the Quran and they do it every time they possible can. i didn't say that "New Testament DENOUNCES the Old Testament"? as you so woefully misquoted. I said. . remember, the new testament denounces the old COVENANT.
Meaning the old laws are no longer to be followed as they were bastardized by man. please read Matthew 22:34-40.
Islam is not a religion it's a cult, one of the primary markers of a cult is that it's leaders promote isolation from those who do not believe as they do. Islam teaches that those who do not follow Islam are enemies. Muslims are discouraged from socializing with those of other faiths. The Koran states that those who do not follow Islam are enemies and should be driven off.
Teaching the truth is not hate, it's simply teaching the truth.
oh and by the way Galen "Muhammed" I would bet you've never been out of the country let alone to a real Muslim country where your religion of "peace" is destroying everything that it deems Kafir.
Muslims are peaceful in this country because they haven't yet reached the critical 15% of the population where they start mass protests. Just wait. If they get to 15%, you will see.
Worse yet is Sen Lindsey-Goober Graham. Guilty of unhinged bedwetting and "we're ALL going to die" fear mongering!
John Bennett's opening lie/line in this video is a blatant lie. Only those awake will notice it for the lie that it is.
"If a non-Muslim 'brings up' Islam....you're racist or Islamaphobe." No, we're all ears for non-Muslims to discuss Islam. Just be truthful when you speak of it and its adherents.
So far, John Bennett has only spewed lies against both in an effort to gin-up an irrational fear against Islam (which is called Islamaphobia) and gain votes from those whose deprived mindsets match his (an Islamaphobe).
I tend to shy away from labeling people as racist until they say something against a racial minority in this country. Islam has many adherents of ALL races, so one CAN actually be an Islamaphobe and not be racist.
It's not Isamophobia when Muslims really are trying to kill us.
Ahh, Galen found an avi with a muslim beard. [wink]
Galen, I'm not sure about the Muslims being a minority in this country. Not sure how many hotels and motels there are in the USA, but I think the majority are ran or owned by Muslims.
What is the “true Muslim faith,” and its relationship and views regarding Sharia Law? Does it even matter?
We know the Muslims are divided, that there is internal strife, between the “moderates” and the “radicals.” Does it really matter which side is the “true faith,” from a national security standpoint? Is it even our place to argue religious theology with Muslims? Which side is the correct interpretation of the Koran and Sharia law, and should we even be involved in that conversation?
Who are we to judge which side is correct regarding their political-social-religious views?
The Muslim faith is clearly divided between the authentic moderates, (figures like Abdurrahman Wahid, the late president of Indonesia and leader of the world’s largest libertarian Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama) and the radical element, or the supremacists, often called Islamists (represented by the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, al-Qaida, ISIS, and certain political factions in several Muslim countries.) Which side is “dominant” may again be irrelevant from a national security standpoint.
So what’s the difference between the “moderates” and the “radicals?”
The moderates embrace the Enlightenment’s adoption of reason, and in general support peace, freedom, and equality. On this side, Sharia Law is not body of law that should be imposed on a society, but merely a guideline or set of codes for personal behavior.
The radicals, however, are completely different. They seek to impose a totalitarian regime, in disguise as a religion, but in reality a global totalitarian Islamic state called a caliphate. This is what ISIS, presently with a standing army of 30,000, declares for itself, and this is also in the charter for the Muslim Brotherhood and other similar organizations. To deny this element exists is absurd on its face. Just read their charters and look at what they do. They kill innocent people and celebrate the death of innocent people, and they financially support the organizations that do the dirty work.
Again, does it really matter, from a national security standpoint, which side is the “true Muslim faith?” What really matters is this:
The radical Islamists pose a threat to the United States. The authentic moderate Muslims do not. Regardless of which side truly represents Islam, only one side threatens our national security.
Wrong. I think it DOES matter. Are you saying the Muslim Brotherhood are not authentic Muslims?
I think over 80% of the country of Egypt would say you were WRONG.
We SHOULD embrace the peaceful moderate Muslims, and it certainly does matter....
George Smith:
I assume you ask "What is the 'true Muslim faith', and its relationship and views regarding Sharia Law?" because you don't know.
Know that any group whose actions contradicts the Holy Qur'an is operating OUTSIDE of Islam and it's a w-i-d-e stretch to call those people Muslims.
One butcher, one knife, one victim, succeeded in planting fear inside America's soul.
We should fear fear alone, yet today we are fearing a few men running down the desert with well sharpened knives.
I recommend you read the Quran, which is here, www.clearquran.com
Murder in the Bible
1)Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests
2)Kill Witches
3)Kill Homosexuals
4)Kill Fortunetellers
4)Death for Hitting Dad
5)Death for Cursing Parents
6)Death for Adultery (no wonder Okies ignore this part of the buybull)
7)Death for Fornication
8)Death to Followers of Other Religions
9)Kill Nonbelievers

God gets to kill too:

2)God Kills all the First Born of Egypt
3)Killing at Jericho ("Hannibal Lecter fit the balttle of j\Jericho, of Jericho")
Maybe Lee TomAssini can explain it away with his weak Noah's Arc apology, "No humans were drowned in the flood, every true human was in the ark." Bullony!
Jeff,
Why do you hate Jesus? He loves you. Turn from the error of your ways.
Name one thing Smith said that was incorrect?
Context. I can take any war and discuss the casualties and make even the most just war seem profanely corrupt. Assuming there is such things as just wars.
context" God is all powerful and can do anything. IF one believes every word int he bible was God-spoken and that god is all-powerful, then he chose to do every bad thing in it. That is the prime context to an infallible bible. MOst Christians do NOT hold this view
Now that Jeffie has turned everyone against his ignorant and untruthful comments about every article concerning the police, he has now switched over to trying to emulate our infamous former professor Willie and his religious teachings. As stated above, two peas in the proverbial pod.
John Bennett gives plenty of motivation to hate so called Xtians.
All of the Abrahamic faiths are built upon a legend. It is amazing how willing some members of each are willing to condemn or kill others that are different.
In your opinion.
"Islam has no place in these United States." The same can be said for all religions, especially Christianity. This attitude towards Islam and "others" is the basis for religious wars throughout the centuries.
Fear of otherness, fear of anything or anyone who is different is just simple ignorance. Fear is the basis of so much hate. It's time for humanity to grow beyond fear.
Christian extremists like Bennett are far more dangerous to the long-term survival of this country than Islamic extremists will ever be. If allowed to gain sufficient power the oppression and atrocities will be just as horrifying. There is plenty of history to prove it.
Recent history shows us that Islamic extremists are willing to sacrifice their own lives by flying airplanes into tall buildings. I fear those who are willing to die striking a blow at innocent civilians in the name of their religion.
"Recent history shows us that"......christian warmongers..... "are willing to", drop smart bombs on innocent Muslim families gathered outdoors at weddings and funerals.
I guarantee they don't "hate us because of our freedoms", like Georgie Bush proclaimed!
"The Wedding Crashers: U.S. Jets Have Bombed Five Ceremonies in Afghanistan"~ Tom Engelhardt/Alternet 7/14/08
"the CIA’s drone campaign in Pakistan has killed dozens of civilians who had gone to help rescue victims or were attending funerals.” As The New York Times summarized those findings: “at least 50 civilians had been killed in follow-up strikes after they rushed to help those hit by a drone-fired missile” while “the bureau counted more than 20 other civilians killed in strikes on funerals"~ Salon 6/4/12
it seems to me most Americans live by the credo that America is always right and to question our superiority is anti-American, that is what a post 9-11 world has given us, not that much different from the Vietnam era. Either you hate or love America to question America's actions is seen as heresy in Oklahoma. You are usually cast as a communist and a hater of your God given goodness of being born in the greatest country in history, how dare you ever question our country's unique place in history and rightness in all things international? This is what it is like to live here, self reflection and contemplation is often is seen as weakness.
Mark you said it exactly and aren't even aware you supported killing the terrorists. If allowed , etc etc etc. yes the atrocities will continue against Americans and every other country the Muslim extremists feel they need to kill.
I'm glad he is bringing awareness. Whether you agree or not with his statements, we all need to be more knowledgeable about Islam and what distinguishes a peace-loving Moderate, from a radical Islamist.
And their views on Sharia Law is a good start....
Bennett might as well put on a turban because he and radical Imams have this in common: They fan the fires of hatred and bigotry. It's unlikely that his geriatric audience will toss a bomb through the window of the nearest Middle Eastern market, but promotion of hatred is never a good thing. You can't condemn a whole religion because of the acts of some believers. Remember, Mother Theresa was a member of a religion associated with pedophile priests.
Speaking of, How old was Aisha when she married?
According to what I've heard she was nine.
Rep Bennett notes, that Islam's "goal is the destruction of western civilization,"
I presume; In much the same way, Christianity destroyed Roman civilization,
Christianity is now engaged in a war against science (most-notably, global overheating denial; denial of the science of demography; denial of the value of "stem-cell" research; and the denial of the basic biological sciences).
Religious fundamentalism (which USA Christians know is a threat when posed by Islam) is also a threat to the USA's own religious fundamentalists.
And, if the GOP Baggers, are successful, in undermining scientific research in the USA (because science is the greatest threat to the future of Christianity) then China; South Korea, Japan, and most other SE Asia nations, will soon, bypass the USA (and the west) as the major economic, political, and military centers on earth.
GOP Baggers, are, for the most-part, fundamentalists; and it becomes increasingly-clear, that the Baggers have attached themselves, (by the hip), with Biblical-literalistic (fundamentalists).
And, as zealous religious exclusiveness, led the Roman Empire into a rapid decline (as the earth's dominant power) religious fundamentalism, is now leading the USA into economic obsolescence.
Religious fundamentalism is easy to criticize, when it is the fundamentalism of "others" -- but almost impossible to criticize when Christian fundamentalists critique themselves.
"Christians, living in glass houses, should not throw stones" (Proverbs)
To the British, after 1776, American "freedom fighters were terrorists; and now they are our "founding fathers."
The main difference, between a terrorist, and a freedom fighter, is in the public relations.
And, Fox Propaganda is the public relations organization, which is more of a threat to USA hegemony, than anything having anything to do, with Islam.

Rep. Bennett is standing by his comments. The left nor their CAIR allies can stop it. And it's driving them totally crazy.[beam]
Speaking of totally crazy,hi Elwell.
The Left will go crazy at whatever a Republican says. If he would have taken just the opposite view, the Left would have gone crazy....
How Scared of Terrorism Should You Be?
Not very. You are four times more likely to be killed by a lightning bolt than by a terror attack.
Appears that inside the USA, since 2001, 16 people have died from terrorist attacks, 13 of those at Ft Hood Texas. Closest I can find is 16 USA citizens killed outside the USA during that same time period. A total of 32 deaths. (through 2011)
A comparable number of Americans are crushed to death by their televisions or furniture each year.
George Bush's war on the wrong country, Iraq, killed 200,000 civilians
Jeff, why don't you move? You have such hate for our country and authority. Quit whining about it and get out!
Good gosh, the man does whine and cry constantly, doesn't he.....
GS, maybe he could join ISIS.
Gordon, [thumbup][thumbup]
He really should. He's angry at everybody and everything, and needs something more than this website to take it out on....
Gordon, Jeffie (the original bat boy) would never make it as a terrorist much less, an ISIS member. He might be required to bleed or die for the cause and we all know he would refuse to defend anything. He would rather others die for the freedoms he expects. And you know what kind of moniker that gives.
Good point Dave. I'm pretty sure it's Smitty who is always demanding other people's kids and grandkids go and fight wars to defend him....
A story like this really brings out the idiots like Jeff.
At or around 3:30, Bennett misdfines the word "Islamaphobe". He misleads his audience with the rhetorical question, "If it means one who tells the truth about Islam, that certainly is [him]." How ironic is that....particularly when truth bears witness to the fact that it's exactly the OPPOSITE?!
An Islamaphobe is one who has an IRRATIONAL FEAR of something. You don't have to believe me....use an independent source. Look up any similar words (germaphobe, homophobe, arachnophobe, etc.). They all have irrational fears of whatever that root word is! There's NOTHING in the about "telling the truth about"! An arachnaphobe isn't "telling the truth about spiders"!! Bennett is playing against his audience's lack of knowledge.
But Bennett is a sly man. He KNOWS that there are others out in the public who share his irrational fear. He's tapping into their irrational fear of the "non-Christian" for political gain. This is no new tactic. Ask failed candidate LouAnn Zelenik of Rutherford Country, TN. She tried to push the "Islamic boogeyman" ideology and look where it got her. At this point, she doesn't have a chance to even be elected as dog catcher!
right wing redneck republican flatulence.....and it seems alot of people enjoy the smell!
No Dana, that would be the smell of a liberal from south Tulsa county.
Question: How much ignorance is he or anyone showing of Islam to state that they need to "share the story of Jesus with Muslims"? Any Muslim that doesn't ALREADY know about and respect Jesus/Isa is either ignorant of their own faith or a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW REVERT/CONVERT!!
His name (Isa - AS) and his mother's name (Maryam) are recited in the Holy Qur'an more than Prophet Muhammad (saw)!
I think he was referring to the Jesus message of "love", rather than the concept of "jihad."
I suspect that most Oklahomans, including this guy, don't really know much about Islam. The source of the religion is about as goofy as Judaism, Hinduism, Buddism and Christianity, most Muslims are good people who want the same things for themselves and their families as everyone else. Lumping all of them together is wrong.
In his effort to whip up his phobic base, and as evidenced here by the usual right wing wackos, it's "MISSION: ACCOMPLISHED" for republican representative bennett.
The question is: What has he done to make the lives of Oklahomans better, safer and more productive?
Bennett is entitled to his opinion. He is a state representative elected by the people within his district representing the State of Oklahoma. He is not a federal representative of the American government.
Having said that, I see why his district has elected him. The majority agree with him. Knowing how Oklahoman's vote within the federal elections, I would not be surprised to see Bridenstine and Mullins cast their support of Bennett. Although, I'm pretty sure their handlers (RNC) have already contacted them to steer clear of this issue.
We'll see how ignorant and sheepie that part of the state is at Bennett's next run for office.
We are all entitled to our opinions and we are also entitled to keep our mouth shut. Not all muslims are extremists and not all Christians are extremists. But most all extremists are terrorists. They use fear to exploit their fellow man. Ref: American political party system.
We should support the moderate Muslims who oppose radical Islam, jihad, and who prefer our Constitution above Sharia Law.
The problem is, only the very liberal wing of the Muslim faith will fit that category. Most moderate, peaceful Muslims, if asked, would rather live under Sharia, because their Holy books advocate for Sharia.
Also, many moderate Muslims who advocate for peace, will not openly condemn jihad, or even the Muslim Brotherhood, which represents radical Islam.
We cannot lump all Muslims together. Their is internal strife, and we must recognize it.
“We need to share his (Jesus’) story, love others and stand for freedom,” he said to loud applause.
Doesn't Bennett listen to himself? Condemning an entire religion and ethnicity for the actions of Islam's terror fringe doesn't sound like the Christian Gospel of love.
just substitute Methodist or Baptist or Catholic instead of Muslim in his statement and see what kind of uproar ensues.
Been around here much Martha? That goes on here everyday, all day....
There are more anti-Christian bigots commenting on this website than I can count....
Is it possible to be a Christian and a "anti Christian bigot" at the same time????
shilman, I wouldn't put it past you....
It's not traditional Christianity that is drawing criticism, it's your brand of "Christianity."
yeah Shilman, it's your brand of Christianity...
Whatever that means....
Mr. "Hill" just doesn't get it and never will. He's far too busy worrying about the splinter in someone else's eye to realize the telephone pole in his own!!! Must lean more toward of the Westboro Baptist Church branch of Christianity[beam] Definitely not my "brand."
Stupid is as stupid doubles down on.....
Well for heavens sake. If Mr. Bennett had really "studied Islam," he would know that Muslims are quite familiar with Jesus and that non believers, according to Islam, are atheists and polytheists, not Christians. The "enemy" of Muslims are those who do not believe in God. That said, most everything else he says is ignorant drivel as well. I am sure his "video" was produced by WND or some other "expert" group.
By the way, his comment by King Hussein of Jordan is best understood when one substitutes "word of God." There is no radical or moderate "word of God" only the word of God. I am sure Hussein was speaking to the truth of the religion and the distortion of the faith which occurs in all religions and faiths.
Yes, Republican constituents gathering to listen to their hero veteran goober from the house of the Sallisaw think tank, Western Sizzlin'.
Just replace the word Muslim with Christianity in everything he said and you see what a self effacing moron the man really is. Freedom of religion, do you remember it from high school civics class? you are a total dumbass and the people who elected you as well.
the more I think about it, isn't what this guy is saying creepy similar to what Hitler told Germany about the Jews last century?
What did Hitler tell Germany after the Jews flew an airplane into a German building?
I think what they said was more that they believed the Jews crashed a plane (so to speak) into the German economy causing millions of Germans to starve and attributing to the collapse of the economy. While this was not at all true...Germans chose to believe it (much as Okies seem so very willing to believe Mr Bennett's nonsense) and they viewed the Jews as the enemy.
So you're saying the Islamic terrorists did not hijack and crash our own planes into the WTC & Pentagon, and that we Okies should choose not to believe such nonsense, or view Islamic terrorists as the enemy. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
BamBam Rubble talking to a room full of his cohorts. They all pounded their clubs on the floor in appreciation! Ugh, ugh, ugh.
So are the liberal idiots on this site saying there is no difference between moderate Muslims and radical Islam?
What total bunch of hooey.....
no one says that RON
Fabricated lie via RonJohnQ!
"Rep. John Bennett stands behind 'threat of Islam' statements at Sallisaw Republican meeting"
And well he might. After all, Islam isn't a religion, it's a political movement. As both Communism and Nazism have shown us in the past, political movements are often expressed with the missionary zeal of a religion by many of their most rabid adherents.
It's a strange religion that advocates beheading those who might embrace another faith.
Royce, remember Ireland, the protestants and Catholics killing each other...why did they do that?
Royce just activated Godwin's Law:
"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1 — that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism.
That person automatically loses the discussion.
Royce, you lose and you stink!
"That person automatically loses the discussion."
By who's rules? It occurs to me that those of you who side with the beheaders should be ones who lose the discussion.
name one person you know who sides with ISIS
Nobody is siding with beheaders you dumbazz Currieo
Good grief! How stupid is this man? And how much does he congratulate himself for his ignorance? "Islam is the religion and Muslim is the follower of Islam....duh. Kind of like Christianity is the faith and Christian is the person. Is that not a little obvious? How sad that we elect people who are this ill informed. By the way, Mr. Bennett. We enjoy freedom of religion in this country. It is not a protection for Christians but for all who believe or do not believe in a multitude of faiths...and your words are an affront to that.
So by that logic all Baptists are Klan members and racist terrorists. I Agree then, but only if Christians can admit they are racist murderers then sure all muslims are isis agents. I believe religious views are the real enemy here not the brainwashed puppets.
After reading that Bennett said he had received 100's of letters of support, I wrote to him to express how irresponsible, shameful and embarrassing I felt his remarks were. He replied back to me, showing his utter lack of professionalism, by stating "Good luck with Sharia Law. Let me know how that works out for you".
I post this in the hope that more people will see him for the fear-mongering, hateful bigot that he is and vote him out at the soonest available opportunity. I also hope that the more that is revealed of his true character, he will be appropriately reprimanded by his colleagues, which IMO should have happened already.
So white racist trash sideshow Bennett wonders what "white people" say about him.
I find this all very sad. I am a Republican and proud of it but still tend to agree with some of this bloggers view points http://allthingsb.weebly.com/home/proud-to-not-be-a-republican
Ooooh i just want to here what he has to say about Satanists (Leveyan, look it up, many things included in it make sense). Also, I wonder what he thinks (if he even can) about all other religions not including Jesus.
this a ss ole must be arrested for inciting violence and suggesting killing of a pres candidate....if he does not know simple english he needs to go to elem school and learn to write full sentences...
