'Falsehoods, distortions'
By Staff Reports

Who laid out the Sept. 11 front page? It's horrible!
Why were we subjected to banner headlines and an article full of the hatefulness, lies and fear-mongering that are, sadly, so typical of that embarrassment to the state of Oklahoma, Sen. Jim Inhofe?
His description of President Obama as "arrogant" would be more appropriate for a bratty little boy than from a member of Congress.
In the center of the page you had a small column giving one negative comment and one positive one about the president's health reform message. In keeping with the rest of the page, the negative comment got top billing and was, therefore, more noticeable.
An article by Kim Archer, on the center left side of the page, seemed to deal only with a negative take on the president's talk to Congress. The corresponding positive comments were buried on page 4.
And tucked away down at the bottom, with a smaller headline, was the article saying that Gerard Clancy, president of University of Oklahoma Tulsa, supported and applauded Obama's health reform presentation.
Why couldn't you have had that article across the top of the page?
The look and content appeared to come from some in-house Republican rag, not the Tulsa World.
It's as though the GOP Tea Party crowd were putting the paper to bed.
I expect better things of the World. I do not expect to be inundated by extremist right-wing falsehoods, distortions and hatefulness simply because I open up the newspaper.
Joyce Anderson Jackson, Tulsa

"... embarrassment to the state of Oklahoma, Sen. Jim Inhofe..."
Such an embarrassment, he keeps get re-elected. Joyce, please explain this phenomenon. Are there not two political parties in the state?

Joyce, Though I concour with your frustration, I would not be too critical of the Tulsa World. They lay out the stories to fit the page and fit the priority of the subject matter. When you do this every day, you have to expect that, some days, it appears to lean, politically, one way or the other.

That's right Joyce, if anybody is saying negative things about Hollywood Stalin then it must mean the tea baggers are behind it, after all he's just busy fixing all the evil things Dick Cheney did, right? Keep writing love letters and sending your picture to the POTUS, one of these days he'll come rescue you on his white horse.

"...I'd love to be there in the back rooms meetings of the Insurance executives, the oil company big wigs as they plan to maintain the status quo..."
What a powerful group. Can you step-by-step this one on how it will be accomplished?

Imagine my surprise. There are readers of the TW who think it is a Liberal rag, I mean newspaper. Can we have it both ways? A more appropriate layout for Sept 11 would have been something about the 9/11 tragedy. Instead it was inside on Page 3. Bring back the Tulsa Tribune!!!

We have had arrogant presidents before. I seem to remember a recent one.
Maybe Sir Jim was only confused.

two liberal rants on the same day, but the TW doesn't allow the liberals a voice because it is such a neocon paper. Ha

wow, calling the TW republican is the joke of the year. The TW like most newspapers are very liberal in their thinking. I really pay little attention to the editoral people from it. I absolutely NO NOT watch the big three TV news, talk about distortion. My question to the TW concerning 9-11 coverage(which was pretty non existance), a friend called to question the lack of 9-11 coverage and the person told the person, that wasn't news any more...
