Letter to the editor: In defense of Fox
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., appear on "Fox News Sunday" in Washington. Freddie Lee/Fox News Sunday

In response to Sandy Wylie's letter ("Propaganda machine," Nov. 1), I wholeheartedly disagree that Fox is not a legitimate news channel. It is!
I would like to ask Wylie where the outrage was when the "real" news channels were slicing and dicing Sarah Palin, John McCain, Rush Limbaugh and every other conservative who disagrees with the liberal agenda? Where were you when the media were constantly spewing hateful rhetoric toward former President George W. Bush? Where was your outrage when Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused those opposing this ridiculous health care reform bill of carrying "swastikas and symbols like that" when every taxpayer there was just exercising the right to stop the government from ramming this bill down our throats? How about that "fair" coverage of the millions of people who attended the tea parties? It received virtually no coverage from the major networks and none from CNN and MSNBC.
I have observed the tone of voices, sneers, body language and facial contortions from all the supposedly "fair networks" and I'm fed up with such biased liberal coverage as many others are. I'm not a right-wing conservative and there are plenty of people like me in the middle or slightly to the right or left who don't appreciate unfair coverage.
Fox News is the only news network that's not afraid to ask tough questions and find truth, unlike other news networks that promote their agenda with sickening soft news coverage. They are whining because Fox is winning the ratings race.

Cnn did report on the Tea Party in Washington and called FOXX out for lying and saying they did not. They replayed all the coverage they had done along with the interviews with the founder or the Tea Party Express. When they demanded on air for Fox to account for their lies in reporting that they were not there....no answer. Check out Rick Sanchez...I think you will be embarrassed you included this false allegation in your letter...of course your sole source was FOX!

Lisa,
Not to worry, Fox isn't going anywhere. With their ratings, they will be around a long time in my opinion.

Also Lisa, character assassination is a favored tactic of the left. Because there is ONE network that goes against their message, they demonize it and all those that watch it. It shows that they aren't as tolerate as they like to preach. Knowing nothing about you, they attempt to undertake with unwarrantable boldness the task of evaluating your intelligence level based on one single factor, what news source you watch.
As Saul Alinsky said in his "Rules for Radicals", in war, ends justify almost any means. The left is waging war against Fox falling in step with the wishes of the current Administration.

So if Fox News is such a trash bin, why is still on the air? What happened to Air America?

Infotainment. Nothing wrong with it, just don't call it news.

Professional wrestling does pretty well in the ratings too.
That doesn't make it a real sport.
Fox is not a real news channel. It is the professional wrestler of channels.

I just love the way conservatives dispatch their election losers by calling them "Republicans, not conservatives." I wonder if FS realizes that Rush Limbaugh also refers to the Republicans who lose elections as "Republicans, not conservatives?" It is hilarious to see how the elephants eat their own.

zzx375:
Fox News is still on the air because it commands a huge share of the small market providing political entertainment. About 3 million people tune it to its pm shows. That is about 1% of the American people. Air America was not able to attract a large enough audience to be sustainable.
The people on the far right who like to view political talk shows have their one television network--Fox News. Moderates and liberals have a larger number of choices and divide their loyalties. The result is that none of the other networks will get the ratings of Fox News and some will fall by the wayside.
However, this story was not about numbers of viewers. It was about whether or not Fox News is a real news network. I vote NO!! It is entertainment and propaganda.

Royce, that is what makes the liberals so mad. It is because Fox exposes the liberals and their organizations for what they are.
Thats why Companion resorts to his "foul" mouth to try to emphasize his points. Screams and cussing at people is the way the liberals operate.

Funny how the liberals like Companion are all against Fox, but a big part of them listen to and watch it by their own admission. I never have to watch it because they keep everyone updated.
Fox must be saying something right to get all the liberals in such an uproar. Guess I will start watching it now.

This issue is reminiscent of the controversy stirred by "The Smothers Brothers Show" on TV a few short decades back. It was a time when conservatism was, if not popular, at least expected on TV. The really big shows were Bonanza and Gunsmoke and Bob Hope and The Andy Williams Show.
The Smothers came along with their (at the time) radically liberal views which were reflected in the scripting of the program. They had running gun battles weekly with TV censors, and conservative news anchors and Baptist preachers alike treated them as the spawn of Satan. TV critics predicted their show would - and should - be pulled before the end of its first season.
The Smothers won, and were wildly successful for 4 years, making CBS a ton of money before CBS shot itself in the foot and cancelled the show.
The liberal Smothers were the first to challenge the conservative dominant media's control of public discourse, and the dominant media of the day did not like it.
However, the magic of capitalism worked as well then as it does now. While the dominant media did not like having its influence usurped, it did like making money. Thus the old bosses were ushered out and the new bosses ushered in.
Now the new bosses have become just as comfortable and arrogant as the old bosses were, and they are incensed at the challenge presented by Fox.
But again, the magic of capitalism is at work. Fox is making a running ton of money while the other networks struggle. MSNBC and, to only a slighltly lesser extent, NBC, will continue to be campaign headquarters for President Obama so long as there is a prayer of getting cap and tax passed. GE has invested hugely in Obama and the carbon credit market, and stands to make billions if President Obama is successful. (Interesting to note that greed drives the leftist agenda perhaps even more than the right.) If cap and tax is irreversibly killed, it would not surprise me if MSNBC recruits Glen Beck and Sean Hannity to replace Matthews and Olberman. They will need the money.

Jeremiah Wright sermon might have been politically correct. But the injustices of the past still haunt some of us today. Time heals all!
ACORN is like anyother organization...has it's bad apples. Most conservatives[right] are just mad at how successful the community organization is, that's all.
Van jones isn't any worse that people like Dubya's Alberto Gonzales. Quit making a mountain out of a mole hill.
And as far as Anita Dunn is concerned...she's right about Fox FauxNews and all that is Fox.

It's funny how Fox news and their idiots Beck and Hannity along with Rush on radio quotes the AP and other "mainstream media" when it's convenient. While all along criticizing them for incorrect news. Yes, I have notice!
