RUSSELL SAM KURTZ

 
KURTZ - Russell Sam, 88, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 22, 2009, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on February 11, 1921, in Ft. Worth, TX to Russell W. Kurtz and Georgia Kurtz. After graduating from Will Rogers High School, Tulsa, OK, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. and proudly served in the South Pacific during World War II. After returning from his military duty, he married Anna Lee Yust, his high school sweetheart, and returned to Tulsa to start a family. He owned and operated two successful businesses, Kurtz Typewriter Service and Central States Shredding Systems. He was a nature lover who enjoyed birds, fishing, growing roses, and golf. His main interest and love was his family. He is survived by: his loving wife of 65 years, Anna Lee Kurtz; daughters, Karol Hill and JoEllen Newman; son, Russell A. Kurtz; grandchildren, Natalie Risley and Samuel Newman; great-grandchildren, Brittany Bentley, Carlee Risley and Grant Risley; and brother, Robert V. Kurtz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Eugene's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 1:30 p.m. Russell made our world a better place and will be dearly missed and loved forever. Russell Sam Kurtz
