Looking up from his soybeans, Roland Garrett had a good view of the planes coming in and taking off.

Although farm chores always seemed to be calling, sometimes he'd pause just to watch.

"He never lost his fascination for planes, and I think he would've loved to take it up again. But with the demands of farming, he just never had the time," said Roland's son, Bob Garrett.

Military heroes

Residents of this small Wagoner County community were in disbelief Wednesday at the news that Oklahoma Army National Guard Spc. Joshua Michael Seals was killed in Afghanistan.

A seventh soldier from Oklahoma has died in Afghanistan. Oklahoma Army National Guard Lt. Damon Leehan, of Moore, was killed Sunday by an improvised explosive device.
