Why do we need to carry guns in the open?? Are we going to have quick draw classes? If you feel threatened, is it ok to shoot? Home protection should be enough. |

Not Normal - I agree with you. Lots of people watching the Thunder of all ages all over town. My condolences to the parents and loved ones of this young boy. Sometimes you just have to consider the source when you read comments. It's the same people always blithering about how great they are while pointing fingers at everyone else. Point fingers at killers. Hope the police work hard to get these killers off the streets. Anyone in the car or anyone harboring these criminals is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. No plea bargains. They should play it just as if one oof their young children was shot at a birthday party. Get these killers off the streets. |

"Investigators were not ruling out gang activity." No kidding. And, what constitutes a gang? It seems to me that if you have multiple people in a car shooting at other people, you've got gang activity. If you choose to take the Drew Diamond approach (there are no gangs in Tulsa), let's just start calling them Domestic Terrorists. |

My sincere sympathy to Jordan's family. Listen Michelle, little boys have been lying to their moms since time began; it's something most every boy has done at one time or another. Don't ever be mad at him, this wasn't his fault. |

Another senseless, tragic and violent ending to such a young child. We can easily place blame on everything but the true facts. The only true fact is, that an innocent life was taken by someone who doesn't care about life itself. In today's society, I don't know that there is an answer to stop all the violence that is happening. We surely don't want it to be a total police state and have our rights taken away. We seriously cannot build enough prisons to house all the violent criminals that run rampant through our streets. We call for law and order yet scream that our constitutional rights are being violated. We want our judges to be severe in the punishment of these violent offenders, yet we demand they be removed from the bench when they are being too tough on young criminals. We ask for mentors to help with the growing problem, yet sometimes, child molestors slip through the cracks and destroy those kids lives as well. We want the parents to be tougher on these kids, yet DHS steps in and has them arrested for spanking them. Or worse, the parent/s actually do abuse them. We have teenagers having kids, being raised by grandparents who can't or won't keep a close eye on their upbringing. We say that religion is the reason, either bad or good. It is a topsy-turvy world and either it will get worse, by there being more and more crime running rampant, or heaven forbid, a holocaust type war will wipe out mankind and we will just have to start all over. The answer. I don't think there is one. |

With much of the campaign agenda being determined by super PACs, I think we can expect plenty of negative campaigning from all sides, with little accountability. No matter which candidate anyone supports, they'll crucify the other for negative campaigning that they may not have any control over. We've created a free for all environment. |

Obama doesn't have to create any new ads. He just needs to play clips of the GOP primary ads and of Romney's opposite stances on the issues. |

Cardboard cutout Mitt will implode just like all of his fellow GOP President wannabes. Their problem is they were running against President Obama and not for the American people. Plastic Mitt, the vulture capitalist, has proven that he will change his "beliefs" in the direction of the scent of money while squashing the working poor and middle class every time they get in the way. Good cartoon. |

An election is a waste of the taxpayers time and money. AA management is about as bad as it gets. Poorly matched equipment, huge bonuses, and a total inability to compete with SWA. People are not going to vote for this tax. Let AA die and move on. The company may leave the city, but we will always have our guns! |

vision 2025 passed because we all got something out of it - community Centers, the BOK Center, etc. Why would somebody with a job vote to have more of their money taken away so somebody else can have a job? Isn't that the job of the private sector and capitalism? I totally think this sounds selfish, but that is just one question I have on this. And aren't Mike Neal and Smalligo some of the same people that screamed bloddy murder over the stimulus bailouts? (even though they were passed under their hero Georgy Bush) Now they want US to approve another bailout? I know we can vote for County Commisioner but can we do something about getting rid of the cajun tyrant that rules the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce? |

Dear TW American Airlines is not bankrupt...they are using the bankruptcy law to their advantage...that means that all of their creditors are going to lose money. They took bankruptcy as a business strategy not because they are broke and can't pay their bills. Please stop painting the picture that they are 'bankrupt'. They are not bankrupt, except maybe their corporate board and CEO, they may be morally bankrupt. With that said, I won't support any tax increase for aerospace infrastructure. Period. It's the wrong idea at the wrong time. |

Amusing letter but still doesn't hide the fact that a union between 2 people who love each other, whatever their sex, doesn't affect anyone or anything else. There used to be a law that blacks and whites couldn't marry because of the negative effect on society and that's been proven false. This isn't any different. |

The letter writer's example of jumping the broom harkens back to slavery days when slaves committed to one another. Being "married" did not prevent them from being sold off separately along with their children. And even jumping the broom required the consent of their owner. A quaint example that belies the indignity and injustice of those times. The right to marry was one of the first rights asserted by emancipated blacks. I hope someday soon, the homosexual community will have the dignity of something other than a symbolic union. |

Speculating and judging other people's lives seems to be a national hobby. If we can't insist that people mind their own business, we should insist that we don't pay them to practice the hobby of interfering in the personal lives of our citizens. Many who seem obsessed with this practice use religion to justify their actions, which is another subject that doesn't belong in our politics or policies. |

What is more important than the building blocks of society? This is a big deal. I wasn't around in the 50's, but from watching the old TV shows, families sure seemed a lot better off. Jim and Margaret Anderson sure had a better family life than Cam and Mitchell's poor kid on Modern Family. The way that homosexual couple is raising Lily is criminal! In fact, they are on their second child in the show because the first one was so damaged just from acting like she had two Daddies. |

Our education system is a result of parents giving up supporting education and turning over their children to a system that requires them to participate in with their support. Confused you say. So are the schools, we have created children with all the rights and freedoms that they have not earned yet. Our electronic kids have left us in the dust with their, "where's mine" approach to life that we have told them to want. Dam_ the teachers and our responsibilities to help them to teach our kids. Money helps but it's not the whole answer. |

For Randy, Citizens of Oklahoma, have we not come forth to a cross road where our population demand legislators to cultivate different resources to fund thy education throughout the state? Arise and review thy calendar, periods of prosperity to be followed with despair, variations in student population, approved budgets, tax revenues, bonds, lottery, and government grants, yet we continue to be ranked 46th, 47th, 48th, whom is really counting? Do we define prosperity by not being rank 50? I think this style of writing to boring. |

In the 90's I used to post in the original Tulsa World online Forum under my own name. That was then; this is now. In the same way awareness that prospective employers could make viewing your facebook page a condition of employment, so could posting under your actual name (linked to your address in criss-cross directories) stifle free speech, make open discussion of controversial issues foolhardy. It's just how it is, now. |

If everyone had to use their own name and photo to express opinions on various subjects, fewer people would comment and many of the comments posted would be postured comments instead of how a person really feels about a subject. Suppose you don't share the same political opinions of your employer, would that change what you said using your own name? Suppose your employer is religious and you are not, would that impact what you said in response to many of the ongoing topics? Suppose your income is derived from selling a product or service, would that keep you from expressing your true feelings on many topics? If we were no longer able to express ourselves anonymously, many people would stop or pose and the comments would be much less interesting. |
