I'm a very conservative Republican. My very first vote was in 1952 for Eisenhower, and I've never voted for a Democrat in my entire life. Indeed I registered Republican when such registration disenfranchised the voter

Texas Tech routs Sooners 41-13 - 11/21/2009 3:28:21 PM
OU loses 41 - 13.

It's like Nebraska only worse. Stoops didn't have his team ready to play. How does 5 losses in a season grab you OU fans? The Sooners are "bowl eligible" with their 5 wins but if they don't beat OSU next week I doubt any bowl invitations will be forthcoming.

Even if they do wind up 7 - 5 Shreveport isn't as nice in January as is Tempe, or Miami, or New Orleans, or Pasadena.

Don't you Sooner fans reckon it's time for Stoops to be "kicked upstairs"?

As far as the Notre Dame job is concerned, if I were the Athletic Director at Notre Dame, I would, at this moment, be making travel arrangements to Lubbock, Texas to talk to Coach Leach.
"$100 million bribe to get her vote"

From who?

Folks who pay the taxes, which apparently doesn't include many Democrats.
New York Terrorist Trial - 11/21/2009 12:31:39 PM
calloy writes: "prevention and defense is no excuse for going against your own morality and laws"

When it comes to these jihaders I would recommend our "own morality and laws" should be paraphrased from a line in George Patton's famous speech to 3rd Army just before they deployed to France.

"We're gonna murder those Islamic bastards by the truckload." Of course Patton said "Hun bastards"

Now that is the best idea I've heard in a long time. Use Florida's "Old Sparky", I understand that one puts on a really good show.

Just outta curiosity wouldn't you pro-baby killin' ladies find that a diaphragm or a condom to be a lot cheaper, not to mention less gruesome, than having an abortionist murder your child?
Health care bill clears Senate hurdle - 11/21/2009 10:13:16 AM
Oops. Should read 58 Democrats + Sanders = 59 votes for cloture.
Health care bill clears Senate hurdle - 11/21/2009 10:11:01 AM
"If that same reasoning holds with Lincoln and Landrieu, Reid, D-Nev., will have the 60 votes he needs to prevail in the 100-seat Senate.

The 40 Republicans are unanimously opposed."

Republicans hold 40 seats and the Democrats 58 plus 2 Independents who vote with the Democrats, Sanders and Lieberman.

Lieberman has already stated that he will vote with the Republicans on cloture for this bill.

40 Republicans + Lieberman = 41 votes against cloture.

48 Democrats + Sanders = 59 votes for cloture.

Tain't enough, regardless of Lincoln and Landrieu may do. Takes 60 votes to invoke cloture. Read the Senate Rules, they're on-line.
Letter to the Editor: Vote for the vets - 11/20/2009 8:32:49 PM
"So, having served in the military is your sole qualification for being elected president? How would you have liked President Timothy McVeigh?"

Nope, lotsa folks who served in the military ain't fit to be the head of state. Adolf Hitler, for example, served in the front lines during WW I. Indeed he was even gassed and spent a lengthy hospital stay at the end of the war and several months thereafter.

While military service is not a qualification for elective office, Yellow Livered, Draft Dodging, Cowardice, ala Bill Clinton, should be a disqualification. I fail to see anything patriotic about Yellow Livered, Draft Dodging, Cowardice.

2ndjoyce writes: "I would say the person more deserving to be Commander-in-Chief of our armed forces is the person who receives the most votes in the Presidential election."

Talk about twisted logic. Just what is it about getting enough ACORN fraudulent votes that would qualify an individual to send our young men and women in uniform overseas to face our enemy' guns?

To show you just how stupid your notion is think about Adolf Hitler and Stalingrad, or closer to home Lyndon Johnson and Vietnam.

Getting votes doesn't make one a successful military strategist by any means. It can get a lot of folks needlessly killed as Stalingrad and Vietnam clearly shows.
What the Right want - 11/20/2009 11:53:25 AM
"There is no rule saying the right gets to sack and loot this country and double and triple the deficit and when a Democrat gets in they have to clean up YOUR mess. But they always do have to."

A really stupid comment from a really stupid source.

The last president, Democrat or Republican or Whig, for that matter who cleaned up the federal debt was Andrew Jackson. We're still paying interest on the money we borrowed to fight the Mexican War.
