Diversafest announced more bands will join its growing roster of headlining acts during the two-day music festival and conference, set for July 25 and 26, in the Blue Dome District of downtown Tulsa.
Added headliners include Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Joshua James, Cory Chisel and Paper Route.
The acts join some 20 headliners, including Clutch, All-American Rejects, Disco Biscuits, The Roots, Phantom Planet, Zappa Plays Zappa, Helmet, AM and more.
"The range of bands we're offering at Dfest cover the spectrum of genres ... (and) makes this a great alternative summer vacation for folks who have been pinched by rising gas prices," Dfest co-creator Angie DeVore-Green said.
Organizers expect more than 60,000 people to attend the conference and festival.
Similar to Austin's South by Southwest, Dfest showcases the best emerging artists in the country. Also, nearly 130 unsigned acts will perform this year in conjunction with the two-day conference.
The artists will represent more than 20 musical genres on a dozen stages.
For anyone who's ever thought of being involved in the music industry, Dfest is the place to learn everything from basics to cutting edge concepts in film and TV licensing to learning more about social networking and marketing to get a grasp on the business of publishing and "360-degree" record deals, said DeVore-Green in a recent press statement.
In coming weeks, www.tulsaworld.com/Dfest will feature its 2008 panelists and the panel
discussions. Conference badges can be purchased in advance for $100, which allows entry to the conference, trade show, music clinics and music festival.
Tom Green, co-founder of Dfest, said badges have been selling at an unprecedented rate this year.
Walk-up badge pricing goes into effect July 24, when full conference badge prices increase to $150.
Invisible Records owner Martin Atkins, Columbia College professor and author of "Tour: Smart," will be the conference's keynote speaker.
The trade show and conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the official host hotel of Dfest.
Music festival times are 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Music conference times are 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Two-day music festival wristbands are $30 in advance, $40 at the gate, and full conference and music passes are available at www.tulsaworld.com/Dfest.
