Tulsa's own Just Between Friends is getting some national attention.

The Tulsa-based franchise company is being featured Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Sources said the show will do a feature story on the nation's leading children's and maternity consignment sales event.

GMA will feature a "video diary" of the JBF event, showcasing the unique system that has helped tens of thousands of families earn money and save it at the same time.

A reporter visited a franchise event in Fort Worth this month and interviewed founders Shannon Wilburn and Daven Tackett, both of Tulsa.

"They originally wanted to come to Tulsa for our fall sale but their schedule didn't allow it," said Wilburn, who is the president of the Just Between Friends Franchise System Inc. "So the crew is scheduled to visit our Fort Worth sale. They want to show how Just Between Friends helps families all across the country earn extra cash, which is especially important during these tough economic times."

Just Between Friends is the nation's leading children's and maternity consignment sales event franchise, with 65 franchises in 17 states. The franchises typically have two sales events a year — fall and spring. Consignors sell clothing, toys, furniture, car seats and other safety items, electronics and more.

Wilburn and Tackett started the sale in 1997 in Wilburn's living room with a handful of consignors and grossed about $2,000. In 2007, the franchise grossed more than $4.5 million.

I like the JBF sales but they really don't screen the items very closely and leave a lot of it in faith that the consignor is going to be honest and not try to rip anyone off.

I purchased a bag that had two Mr. Tato guys with pieces. The consignor had put the pieces inside the tato but left the back door open so you could see they were included. Got home and was very disappointed to find out of the 2 guys, we are missing an arm, a set of eyes, a mouth and this has a ear piece of the glasses and a hand completely chewed off (dog?) - shady.

Another time I purchased a baggy of travel games, this had a list that said what was included, which stated among the other items, two Connect Four games, got home and saw it doesn't include enough of the game pieces for ONE game. Another waste of money.

I wish there was a way they could prescreen stuff a bit better.
