Varsity Hop to raise funds for CF

The Varsity Hop will be the theme when the Sooner Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation holds its 31st annual All Sports Ball at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Longtime sportscaster Bob Carpenter will be the program emcee. Currently a play-by-play announcer for the Washington Nationals on MASN, he is widely associated with the St. Louis Cardinals television broadcast team and is a two-time St. Louis-area Emmy Award winner. Carpenter also spent 15 seasons as a baseball announcer with ESPN, covering college baseball and minor league baseball in addition to the major leagues. He also contributes daily reports to Tulsa-area sports radio station KYAL 97.1.
Nicole Lettermon-Gonzales is the chairwoman for the ball and Tim Cargile is honorary chairman.
Jo Ann Winn, Sooner Chapter executive director, is expecting more than 400 guests. The goal is to raise some $200,000 to help fund cystic fibrosis research.
Master auctioneer Jay Litchfield will lead the bidding on two penthouse tickets to Indianapolis 500; a wine dinner with chefs from Southern Hills at the home of Kayla Loposse; an Orlando trip with airline tickets, golf and Disney tickets, and a David Yurman ring; wine dinner for eight at Mahogany Prime Steakhouse; wine dinner for 10 at the home of Tim Cargile; and a private event for 20 at Metro Builders Supply.
Guests speakers will be Roy and Stephanie Thomas, whose 6-year-old son, Wesley, has cystic fibrosis, and the Sooner Chapter CFF Ambassador.
The
evening includes the music of the Mid-Life Crisis Band, a silent auction, a dinner provided by Rocci and Bret Chandler of Rib Crib and desserts provided by the Laughing Wench and Simply Cupcakes.
There will also be just for fun casino games, sports games and slap shot hockey contests.
Ernest Moody of Moody's Jewelry has donated a $3,000 gift certificate as a raffle prize.
