Here comes one of our favorites — the 15th annual Pink Ribbon Event set Oct. 19 at Southern Hills Country Club.

This time around the Tulsa Project Woman benefit will present "Fashion a Cure 2009, 20 Years of Glamour" as Saks Fifth Avenue and New York designer Carmen Marc Valvo team up to present a two-decade retrospective of his most coveted creations.

You have an opportunity to attend either a day time event and/or an evening edition of "Fashion a Cure." The daytime event, beginning at 11:30 a.m., includes lunch, a runway fashion show, and the highly sought-after "mystery boxes," which include prizes and goodies for various levels of donation. Individual seats for the luncheon are $100 or an "honor" table of 10 seats is available for $1,000.

The black-tie event begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes dinner, runway fashion show and a live auction. Patron packages range from $2,500 to $25,000.

Items up for bid include tickets to New York Fashion Week, and a dress of the winners' choosing from Carmen Marc Valvo's "20 Years of Glamour" show that Carmen will personally fit and reproduce.

Other auction items include jewelry, golf packages, wine experiences and more.

Saks Fifth Avenue will kick off the Pink Ribbon event with its annual "Key to the Cure" initiative on Oct. 15-17. During the nationwide charity shopping weekend, a percentage of sales at the store will benefit Tulsa Project Woman.

Julie and John Nickel are event co-chairmen. Actress and Tulsa native
Amber Valletta is honorary chairwoman. Valetta's latest film is Lionsgate's new action drama "Gamer," which stars Gerard Butler. Another film with her, "The Spy Next Door," will be released in 2010.

Other committee members include Marla Bradshaw, Emily Cary, Susie Collins, Andie Doyle, Shelly Drullinger, Gayle Eby, Francie Faudree, Cindy Field, Vancie Frazee, Piper Kacere, Richard Koenig, Karen Larsen, Holly Lehman, Robin McEver, Bonnie Minshall, Melissa Minshall, Sally Minshall, April Moore, Amy Murray, Molly Pellegrini, Sandie Pitman, Tracy Salisbury, Vida Schuman, Dianne Siegfried, Dede Soule, Peggy Stephenson, Georgenia Van Tuyl, Heather Williams and Jason Ashley Wright.

The Pink Ribbon Event is the primary fundraiser for Tulsa Project Woman Inc., a program providing breast-health education, no-cost mammography, diagnostic procedures and surgical services for women without health insurance and/or limited financial resources. TPW links Tulsa and surrounding area breast health care institutions to women, who due to financial hardship, delay seeking attention.

Its goal is to save lives through early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Since its beginning in 1998, the program has provided screening and services for more than 16,730 uninsured Oklahomans and diagnosed 359 cases of breast cancer.

Please call Anne Bogie with Tulsa Project Woman (834-7200) to learn about patron opportunities or to purchase individual luncheon tickets.
