Local business leaders are helping students at Tulsa Community College take steps for a more successful future. That makes for better programs and students with richer knowledge. And that is a win-win for both our community and the college.

TCC recently hosted a thank-you breakfast for its business and industry advisers at the Renaissance Hotel.

Kevin Burr, a nationally known school improvement consultant, spoke to almost 300 who attended the event. Burr discussed high school redesign leading to more successful college students and future workforce.

"We look forward to this annual event and the chance to thank our business advisers for their commitment and service to our college," said Tom McKeon, TCC president.

The businessmen serve on committees and are advisers to more than 50 career and workforce education programs at TCC. The advisory committees counsel TCC educators on workplace trends and help define curriculum based on trends in the business, industry, technology and government sectors. TCC faculty members and associate deans also serve on each committee in key supporting roles.

Those attending the breakfast included Mark Boese, lab director
