Wanda "Queen of Rockabilly" Jackson recently announced that she’s working with a king of modern indie rock, Jack White, on a new album.

Jackson’s 50-plus-year music career spans country, gospel, rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll — she’s widely known as the first woman to record a rock tune, “Let’s Have a Party,” in 1959.

The Maud native and Oklahoma City resident was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

She recently met with White in Nashville, she told the Oklahoman.

She also will perform Saturday at the 66 Bowl in Oklahoma City.

She hopes to record a single song first, but that might turn into a full-length album, music industry sources Pitchfork, TwentyFourBit, NME and MSN's UK sites report.

White, frontman of the White Stripes and member of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, also produced country songbird Loretta Lynn’s Grammy-winning 2004 studio album, “Van Lear Rose.”

Jackson called White, “One of the biggest stars on the planet I guess right now.”

Jackson’s no stranger to unexpected collaborations. She’s also recorded with The Cramps, Elvis Costello, Lee Rocker and Rosie Flores, to name a few.
