It's as if Darth turned over in his grave

Since the original "Star Wars" novelization of the original film was released in 1977, literally hundreds of books about this time long ago in a galaxy far, far away have been published.

But of all those myriad books — original novels, comic adaptations, coffee-table tomes — there hasn't been one quite like Joe Schreiber's "Death Troopers."

Schreiber is a writer who specializes in horror stories — he's published three acclaimed novels, including "No Doors, No Windows."

His most recent novel melds the conventions of the horror story with the "Star Wars" universe — imagine "Night of the Living Dead" in a space fantasy setting.

Schreiber will be in Tulsa to sign copies of his book beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Woodland Plaza Barnes & Noble, 8620 E. 71 St.

RSU history signing

Former Tulsa World Writer John Wooley will be at Steve's Sundry, Books and Magazines, 2612 S. Harvard Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday to sign copies of his recently published history of Rogers State University.

"100 Years on the Hill" is the second book about the institution now known as RSU. An earlier book, "Voices from the Hill," focused on the years when this Claremore landmark was the home of the Oklahoma Military Academy.
