Elton John has canceled part of one tour and rescheduled parts of another while he battles e.coli and flu infections, John and his publicist confirmed on Monday.

The 62-year-old announced on his official Website that he has been forced to yank more shows on doctor's orders after being hospitalized with "a serious case of e-coli bacterial infection and influenza."

The performer rescheduled several shows on the West Coast as part of his "Face 2 Face" tour with Billy Joel.

The pair is scheduled to perform at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City on Nov. 25. That show has not been postponed, the Ford Center Web site confirmed.

A PR rep for John said Monday that the pop star hopes to be released soon but has been forced to cancel concerts in England, Ireland and the United States, reported the Associated Press.

John had also canceled the remaining dates of his Red Piano Tour in Britain and Ireland, reported the New York Times.

Recently, Joel also postponed dates after he also reported flulike symptoms.

John entered the King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, London, on Friday, reported the UK Daily Mail.

Didn't he play at a Rock N Roll Hall of Fame gathering this past weekend?

OkieRose, he's been in a hospital in London since last Friday. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bash included Eric Clapton, U2, Metallica, Jeff Beck, Aretha Franklin, Lou Reed, Sting, members of the Kinks, Buddy Guy, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bruce Springsteen and others ... but no Elton John. Thank you for your question!

Thanks Jen. I said that because I thought I saw him will Bill Joel on a news story and the HOF. Guess I was mistaken. Again, thanks anyway.

hey..the guy has been gay for years and somewhat open about it..i think at the age of 62 if he had aids it would have made him very ill long before now..both e coli and influenza can however be deadly to anyone..

don't worry, homophobics. gay isn't catching. however, if "rocket man" comes on the radio, you better change the station just to be safe.
