Saturday morning, thousands of people will get out of bed early, lace up their sneakers and head downtown for the Tulsa Run.
For its 32nd year, Tulsa's oldest race has mild weather forecast with partly cloudy skies and a starting time temperature in the 40s.
The race, which benefits LIFE Senior Services and YMCA of Greater Tulsa, will start and end in downtown Tulsa, with the finish line in front of the BOK Center. This year's presenting sponsors are Bank of Oklahoma, ONEOK, QuikTrip, Tulsa World and Wal-Mart Inc.

How will I know my time?
Your official Tulsa Run race number and timing tag are enclosed in your race packet. Do not lose, bend, fold, cut or alter your number, which cannot be worn by anyone else. Runners without an official number will be escorted from the race course.
Pin your number on the front of your racing attire with the safety pins provided in your packet. Follow the instructions included with the timing tag to attach it to your shoe. They are disposable and do not need to be returned.
You must cross the rubber pad at the start line to be timed. Crossing this pad starts the timing process with the computer chip on your shoe.
There are no official times recorded for the Fun Run.

Pre-race meal: Pasta
The classic pre-race meal for most runners is
pasta to load up on carbs for energy. Friday evening,
Joe Momma’s at 112 S. Elgin St. will have a pre-Tulsa
Run carbo-load pasta party with live music.
If you want to cook at home, here’s a light, easy pasta
recipe from Giada De Laurentiis.
PASTA WITH TOMATO AND PEAS
1 pound linguine
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
3 shallots, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 carrot, diced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
5 tablespoons tomato paste
½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1½ cups frozen peas, thawed
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheee
¼ cup grated Romano
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high
heat. Add the pasta and cook until tender but still
firm to the bite, stirring occasionally, about 8 to
10 minutes. drain the pasta, reserving 2 cups of
the pasta water.
2. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large, nonstick frying
pan over medium heat. Add the shallots, garlic,
carrots, salt, and pepper. Cook until tender, about
8 minutes. Add the tomato paste and ½ cup
of the hot pasta water. Stir to melt the tomato
paste and create a sauce, adding more pasta
water if necessary. Stir in the oregano, thyme,
and parsley. Gently fold in the cooked pasta, peas
and the cheeses, adding more reserved pasta
water if necessary. Transfer to a platter and serve
immediately.
Will Tulsa reach
1 million miles?
Mayor Kathy Taylor will run
the 2k Fun Run and announce
whether the city met its goal
for the Tulsa Million Miles
challenge.
