“For staying connected locally, nothing else cuts it.”

“I read tulsaworld.com page by page every morning,” says Marilyn Ihloff, owner of Ihloff Salon & Day Spas. “I start with Scene and Local to see what’s going on in the community, then I look at business because of my Chamber involvement. I travel a lot, so it’s like my little friend that keeps me connected.”

“When I got out from behind the [stylist’s] chair in 1998, it so rewarded my life and the lives of our team to get more involved in the community, to network with other business owners. It opened my eyes. And reading the Tulsa World every day, I could see the needs. It helped us match dreams with opportunities.”

That vision led Ihloff to become one of the founders of the Cherry Street Farmer’s Market, and later to dedicate 100% of the proceeds of her annual Ihloff Fall Show to the Tulsa Arts & Humanities Council.

“I kept reading about the cuts in art education and it was so troubling. My industry is made up of artists. And I kept thinking about all those right-brained kids who wouldn’t have the resources to express themselves. So we got more involved and today, Tulsa has this thriving Arts Council that’s become a model for the nation.”

Why not give your morning routine a makeover? Commit to your community. Read the Tulsa World and tulsaworld.com every day.
