Brother Leon, havin’ a birthday

Rock legend and hometown boy Leon Russell is throwing a birthday bash, complete with concert. Russell, a pioneer of the influential Tulsa Sound, started in music at 14 years of age. He soon gained notoriety and became a sought-after session musician, performing with such legendary artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Phil Spector, The Byrds, The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, B.B. King, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan, to name a few. Then he headed out on the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour with Joe Cocker and became a star. His songs are still being recorded today.
